Lost all text and iMessages in iOS6 update

I have lost all my text message and iMessage history since the beginning of having an iPhone (several years!) just by updating to iOS6. Has anyone else had the same problem? Can it be resolved?

Thanks

I have also lost all my texts. I'm seriously devastated. I don't know what to do. I've lost every text I've sent for the last several years. I've kept them all to remember friends and family who I no longer have anymore. How could Apple let something like this happen!??? I need them back! I haven't synced my phone to a computer for over a year because of the way you can update it now since the old way took forever. Now they're just gone!

Heres what happened. I went to text someone and all the texts were there but when I tapped a message and my phone froze. Then I restarted my phone and the texts were gone. My contacts are there but the texts are just gone. Please fix this Apple!

I updated my AT&T iPhone 4 to iOS 6 and lost all of my contacts too. I backup regularly on my Mac mini but because it is an older Mac product, it cannot be updated to OS 6. (It is running 10.5.8 which is a dead-end to Apple.) With iOS 6 you can only connect with Macs which are Mac OS 10.6 or higher. So for long-time Apple product owners like me, you're out of luck. Apparently, we no longer matter to Apple. This is an experience I never want to repeat so I've purchased a Windows laptop to replace my Mac mini and will buying an Android, tossing the iPhone into the toilet where it belongs.

I just got through with an 2 hour long phone call with Senior Apple Tech mgr about the same problem, losing all my text messages. I just upgraded from a IPhone 4S to 5 and when I went to restore my IPhone 5 from my last 4S backup, I got everything except my pics in my camera roll & ALL MY TEXT MESSAGES, and I have text messages dated back several years. The problem is the new iOS 6.1 software. That is the problem. I was told that you CAN NOT return your iPhone to the older software version. And if you want to retrieve all you text messages you will need to use SMS Backup & Restore program, like Backuptrans.com. Or www.iphonesmsexport.info/software.asp.

Or until they fix the 6.1 software.

hmmm this is what you're looking for, if I understand your question properly. If you lost your iPhone, you may have an iTunes backup somewhere...that program allows you to export your iTunes backup, including your contacts to your PC/MAC/Laptop.

Other than that, if you're phone is gone, your data is gone. I'm sorry to say, but: you CANNOT get it back.
