Do you still have installation media (DVD)? Move Aperture to the Trash, then reinstall to your original version and upgrade again.

If you do not have installation media, because you bought from the App Store, move Aperture to the Trash and download again from the App Store.

Do you publish to Facebook? Then deleting the Aperture User Preferences probably will help, if reinstalling does not.

Looks like you might have bad Image Capture plists. Grab your all of you Image Capture plist files (you can find them by holding down "Option", and going to the "Go" menu in the Finder, then selecting the "Library" folder, then going to "Preferences", then to the "ByHost" folder) and put them on your desktop. See if that fixes the issue.

You might want to contact Apple about this, they've asked me before for my messed up Preferences when I submitted feedback to them via http://www.apple.com/feedback/aperture.html

I did get the 2nd level of Aperture support at Apple to work on this, but they were unable to fix it. I uploaded all the Console logs and they will show it to the engineers and I may have an answer early next week. In the meantime, I am stranded.

Thanks for your help.

And they did not ask for your preference files? They will have to look at your User Preferences as well.

Please make a backup copy of the current state of your User Library and keep it safe, until Apple contacts you again.

To open the user preferences folder go to the Finder's main menu bar and click "GO" and hold down the options key, until "Library" appears in the drop-down menu. select library and click to open the folder.

Make a backup copy of this Folder, please.

Your crashlog shows, that Aperture crashes when trying to setup the default Image Capture application

[RKImageCaptureManager defaultImageCaptureApplicationPathAndAllCandidateApplications:] + 371]

Do you have any helpers installed to connect to a camera? for example "Cameras" by flexibit?

Are there any non standard preference panes installed in the system preferences? DO you use Aperture plug-ins?

Sep 21, 2012 3:22 PM in response to AlexGcs

I tried with everything, the facebook share is the most bigger problem for me, I import pictures from my external HD and works fine, I will try with my camera later, I worked in some pictures and all is well, I don't use any plug-ins, I made a backup of my Aperture Library.aplibrary, and thats all... I suppose, I have to wait for the next upgrade, I am stranded too.

Sep 21, 2012 4:05 PM in response to léonie

I have a new TimeMachine backup and a new Aperture Vault. I have Image Capture installed to open when my USB card reader opens a card. Also, DropBox opens, and I have been unable to disable that function. I do not have any non standard preference panes installed. I do use many Aperture plug-ins. These include all the Nik plug-ins and 2 plug-ins from Topaz.

Thanks -

Not all Aperture plug-ins will work with Aperture 3.4 any longer, you will have to check with the manufacturer, if the pug-ins support sandboxing, see:

Aperture 3.4 and later: Some third-party plug-ins are no longer compatible

Have you already tried Aye Es Ohs Advice? Re: My Aperture crash after upgrade to 3.4. Pls help !

if you have done that, keep a copy of the references file for the Apple team.
