How do I resolve a failed download, "Use Purchases Page to download again"..

I'm on the Purchases page and trying to download iBomber Defense. It's not working for over a day. I'm running OS 10.8.2. 86MB of 96MB have already been downloaded.

There is nothing on the Launch Pad or in the Applications folder to delete. When I try again on the Purchases Page as the App Store requires, it starts the download at that 86MB mark and then immediately says the error again. I'm on the Purchases Page when it tells me this error, so it's ticking me off. I have no apparent resolution.

Does anyone know how to resolve an error like this? All of the fixes seems to say to delete the file that was partially downloaded but I can't find it anywhere so I'm lost on that. Any recommendations would be appreciated. It would seem to me be a problem with the App Store downloader as opposed to something the publisher can fix.

Hi Apple-Novice-Wondering,

Apple currently doesn't monitor these boards as they are community powered.

To answer your question, have you tried clearing out the caches and temporary files used by the Mac App Store?

This has worked for some people. Also, make sure iTunes is up to date. You can view the instructions of how to clear the temp files here, How to clear caches and temp files for the Mac App Store. Also, this post might be of use as well as one has to delete the folder com.apple.applestore and reboot for it to take effect.

I hope this helps and report back if it worked for you or not and we can continue troubleshooting.

Daniel,

Interesting. I guess Apple was right that iTunes and the Mac App Store are separate accounts and that downgrading shouldn't affect the Mac App Store. I'll have to dig around some more to find out what's going on.

It's good to know that the Mac App Store works for you on Yosemite 10.010.3 and iTunes 11.4 but I'm stumped on why it's not working here.

If you come up with any solutions or have suggestions, I'm open.

I don't use Trim Enabler so it's possible that it is the critical difference between our systems. Maybe try uninstalling Trim Enabler and see if that makes the difference. You might have to go through with the whole business of reinstalling iTunes 12 and then replacing it with 11.4 again.

The only other thing I can think of is that after reinstalling iTunes 12 I deleted every file and folder I could find with "appstore" in the title in the Library folders and in /private/var/folders/, confirmed that the App Store was working, and only then replaced iTunes 12 with iTunes 11.4. Maybe you missed one problematic file or folder?

I don't have any issues downloading apps in iTunes App Store or Mac App Store.

I think that if you keep badmouthing Apple with fibs, the Hosts will do more than remove your comments. The next step is a forced vacation from the Apple Support Communities.

Many folks have resolved the issue by using a more reliable DNS service.

i don´t know why they deleted over and over again the xhruso00terminal solution, maybe because it imply the host file...

i tried it but didn´t work on my MBA Yosemite and Mavericks partitions, also i tried changing dns with google and open dns but nothing happens.

i can´t download:

- iwork (pages, keynote, numbers)

- imovie

- iphoto

- caffeine
