Trackpad is sometimes not working on MBP after OS X 10.8.2 upgrade

MacBook Pro early 2011 15"

After I updated my Mac last night, the trackpad randomly stops working for no reason. Clicking the trackpad a few times seems to wake it up after a few sec. But it's really annoying when you try to work on the computer..

Yes, please, share with us the solution to this problem. You said to boot in safe mode, and then???

I already erased my disc, installed everything again now I have 10.8.0, and the problem persist even in Bootcamp and in the mac restoration screen, so I think it is an EFI problem.

And finally, it appears to be solved. The only way that I found was restore to factory settings, install Mountain Lion and Upgrade again to 10.8.2. Now my trackpad is running well. Now I have to install everything again because It was a clean installation.

I have exactly the same problem as disanchez, my trackpad goes crazy and start to move by itself and clicking around the screen, it moves things, sometime it changes through all fullscreen apps and the worst of them, it freezes and there is no god that make it moves... It is a nightmare, and this happeded right after the update. There is a line in the trackpad that doesn't have sensibility, and sometime runs very well as usual and sometimes do everything that I have said before.

disanchez, I don't believe that this problem has to do with permissions nor google services, or whatever. Our problem is global and not local to this particular OS version. I personally erased my disk, downgraded to Lion with a Factory Restoration, and the problem persist in Lion 10.7.0, in Mountain Lion 10.8.1, in Windows 7 on Bootcamp, even in the MacOSX installation screen. So I believe that this problem has to do with the EFI firmware or maybe it is really damaged in hardware. I tried to install my EFI firmware update for MBP Late 2011 (v2.7) and I can't proceed because the installer says that this system is not supported, and I remember that I installed this before, maybe the installer thinks that this package is not necessary because it is already installed but I want to reinstall this again in order to know if it is a software or a hardware damage. My mac is still in waranty, so if it is a hardware damage they can fix this.

You can't restore the previews version because you did the backup after the upgrade and you cannot restore a backup that you didn't make. My suggestion is to follow the instructions that other have posted here if it is just a delay in your trackpad, if you have my problem that the cursor moves by itself and clicks around the screen and so on, you have to check you warranty if you already covered, just call Apple or bring it to the near Apple Store, in my case, the support guy ordered a new trackpad and I still waiting to it for arrives...

People, everybody have these files in these folders, I don't think that these files can make your trackpad unresponsible. If you have CleanMyMac you can delete these files from the Startup Items. Also, you may unistall these Apps with CleanMyMac, this software will delete any settings and files related to these apps. Or you can also, create a new User Account, copy your files to this new account and then delete your old account. I prefer to install a fresh copy of Mountain Lion, upgrade it to the latest version and then install whatever software I need. Obviously, you need to make a backup of your files, delete everything that you don't need and make easier your life. Apple don't need to issue a new update to solve this, I don't have this problem, there are few people with this problem, all people who I know do not have this problem.

My problem was a very different because it was a hardware problem but they solved my problem replacing my trackpad.

These folders only contain files that have instructions to launch some apps and frameworks. If for any reason you launch these apps again, these apps may put the plist files back and you will have the problem again, That's why I suggesting people to uninstall these apps through CleanMyMac (or whatever unistaller) and then install the newest version of these apps.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Just for information:

These plist are XML files (text files and you can edit them with TextEdit). They contain information to launch an specific APP or Framework. OSX will launch these APP if these plist file are in a special folder called LaunchDaemon or LaunchAgent. These folders are in the Libraries of the Mac OSX and there are 3 Libraries type. These 3 libraries are: /Library; /System/Library and ~/Library

/Library is the folder where APPs in /Applications store information that all users will need.

~/Library is the folder where APPs will store information that only will be available to a specific user (in unix based systems "~" is your user folder).

/System/Library is where Mac OSX store system related information and you are not supposed to edit files in /System unless you know what you are doing.

LaunchAgent will store any plist that need a user interface and them require a user to login in an user account.

LaunchDeamon will store any plist that does not need a user interface to run and does not require a user to login.
