Open in... not working for PDF in iOS6

Hi,

I have just upgraded to iOS 6 and can no longer view PDF files from email on my new iPad. The preview image appears fine and when I tap and hold on it, the "Open in.." window appears with app icons. When I pick an app, the popover goes away and nothing happens. It doesn't seem to be an issue with other files, just PDF. I have tried picking a number of apps and the issue is the same. The same file opens fine on my iphone too. I can use the Open In functionality from GoodReader so the problem only seems to be with Mail.

Has anyone else experienced issues with this? Is there any way of fixing it? I'd also like to turn off the PDF preview in Mail if possible so the file just shows as an icon.

Thanks for the suggestion. I deleted PDF Splicer and things work fine for me as well. I have 24 selections.

Thanks for the recommendation. I also deleted PDF Splicer and everything worked as expected. I only have 8 selections.

I am having the same problem - PDF files opening in GoodReader as .flv files. The only workaround I have found is that once I have worked on the .flv files in GoodReader I mail them back to myself, save them on my Mac, and change the file suffix to .pdf. That works.

I found this thread based upon having the same problem as you all...iPad 3 iOS6. I also have PDF Splicer, but don't want to delete it. I have Dropbox and opened a PDF from within DB. I selected the "Open In..." button (looks like a box with an arrow going into it....and had no problems opening the PDF in several other apps to include iBooks and PDF SPlicer. The problem appears to lie with the Mail app in iOS6. I have 19 apps listed in my "Open in.." selections. I can see Print, but not the Quick View selection that others have talked about.

I'm the developer of PDF Splicer and this thread has been brought to my attention. I don't think that anything in my app is causing this and it may just be a bug in iOS 6, but I was wondering if any of you who are having this problem would like to help me debug it. Guys,

I just got off the phone with Apple Support. After describing the problem, they were able to duplicate our same issue on her iPad and was forwarding a report to the software engineers.

Help! I've tried all of your suggestions. I have deleted all the apps I can find that open pdf's, except my mail app, and I still only get offered the mail app and a grey "print" icon that searches for the nearest air print printer. I just want to open the occasional pdf from an email into my ibooks! What happened to easy?
