I've had issues with battery life, but have played with settings and things are not as bad as right after upgrading (4s on 5.1.1).

As for performance, I noticed right away that web pages load faster in Safari. Pehaps it's just perception, but a few sites I frequent daily appear to load noticeably faster. Other applications don't appear to launch or run/update any faster, and general operational speed seems no different.

Have you tried to downgrade? I've not upgraded so don't have to but in the past I have and all one needed to do was click 'restore' in iTunes whilst holding the alt key as I remember if not then the option key and a pop-up appears to navigate to the folder where previous versions of your iOS are held assuming you loaded 5.1.1 from iTunes and not OTA. Anyway, you should have any difficulty in finding the file for 5.1.1 on the net.

Good luck.

The IPSW file as it is called is found by holding down the Alt key whilst clicking restore with your phone connected to iTunes and here are the paths depending on you OS

On Windows XP :
Documents and Settings\<User>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

On Windows Vista/Windows 7:
Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

On Mac:
~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates

If it's not in there download it and put it there and the restore.

This all assume=s Apple hasn't blocked this with iOS 6

What the **** did I do, only updated both my Iphone 4.

One phone show after charging from just standby iphone battery 85%, after just 6 hours !

The other keeps displaying "Network Lost" spoke with Apple only to be told maybe bug with software.

No Tomtom on Iphone they should just stick to the normal sat nav units where they are great !

Only GOOGLE MAPS knows the world, and its maps are the best nobody will be able to match them, come on APPLE get them on board along with YOUTUBE.

I've always bought apple products, If this google maps and youtube are not resolved quickly I will just stop buying apple, I am the person who lines up 4am in the morning to buy the first apple product on launch day.

I will not be there next time !

You know there is something wrong with IOS 6 for Iphone , let us downgrade, other wise you will have the same faith as IPHONE DEATH GRIP, this time you dont have STEVE JOBS to get you out of S*it.

If you are reading this, you have most likely updated to IOS 6 , If you are not happy you MUST call and let Apple know, only with people power will things change.

Pick up the phone and call them.

Do not upgrade iphone 4 to ios 6

Now audio books and podcasts in a separate program from music files that uses at least twice as much power as previously.

Music and audio files also skip and stutter at times.

The app also does not shut down when I answer a call using my wired earphone keeps playing in the background while I try talking on the phone.

Now when the the audio I am listening to is done I cannot just click the button and start listening to my music.

I have to find some safe place to pull over dig my phone out and choose something else or listen to silence for next half hr or so.

The over all battery life is half what it use to be with wifi and blue tooth turned off.

Battery lasted longer before I updated it with both of those options running.

If I could downgrade to past version of operating system I would do it in a sec.

THERE IS NOTHING IN THE NEW IOS 6 THAT IS AN IMPROVEMENT.

They just made it so that my next phone will NOT be an iphone.

I solved ALL the problems above and far more (sudden restart of the phone, sloooooooooow Safari, unable to receive IMAP mail, unreliable apps, and a lot more things) by restoring the Phone (delete and restore) and setting it as a new phone (don't use your backup). Now I have a super fast phone, maps works ok here in Barcelona, battery life is bett than it was... And I have 11 GB of free space. Why? Because I upgraded my iPhone 3 g to an IPhone 4, from iOS 3 to ios4 to iOS 5 and last to iOS 6... And I was keeping all the trash of old apps, and faulty settings.

All my music is in the cloud (music match), all my doc are in the cloud (iCloud, Dropbox, Evernote), all my mail account are IMAP, and my photos are backed up in many drives, so for my is just a snap to reinstall from 0.

So, if you have installed iOS 6, backup all your info, make a clean install and then install only the apps you really use (before upgrading I had 200 apps and 800 MB of free space; now I have 35 apps and 11 GB of free space).

Good luck.

Sorro2, that solved a lot of issues for me. The upgrade caused noticeable battery life issues and well as behavioural issues. I did as you did - wipe and install from scratch and then restore my settings. Battery life is much better - same as iOS v5.1.1, and performance is as good or better.

Since the install from scratch and restore from backup and then sync is pretty painless and doesn't take much time, I'd recommend it as the default way to upgrade.

I have an iphone 4 on IOS6, and well, my phones battery is appauling now... i charge it to 100% before going to work dont touch it for about 4 hours and i could have 1 text on there and its already flashing under 20%, i would like to say it was IOS6 that did it, but i think my phones posessed anyway, my touch screen isn't aligned properly and the new app passbook opens itself for no reason, likes to crash every 5 mins, abit rediculous tbh.

As others have mentioned, if you have an iPhone 4 DO NOT upgrade to iOS6!

I have (apart from the battery drain issue) the spontaineous restart issue and it is really annoying! To the point that I started thinking maybe it's a hardware fault and it's a coincidence that it started after the upgrade! Relieved to see there's others out there!

Thankfully some of the posts here seem really useful (had to search a lot to find this thread though!).

I will try Simon PCW's suggestion first and if it doesn't work I'll see if I can backup all my data to the Cloud, as I have never done this before. By the looks of it, it might just fit in the measly 5GB that apple gives for "free". With the price of this phone being what it is you'd think they would provide the ability to backup all your 32GB data separate to the iOS, and not just give you 5GB and pretend they're doing you a favour!

So plan B is Sorro2's suggestion!

Finger's crossed one of these will work! 🙂
