iOS 6 killed Wi-Fi Sync

Hey guys,

I updated my iOS and OS to the newest versions respectively today. As well as extremely intermittent Wi-Fi in general, my iPhone now does not sync via Wi-Fi.

All the settings are the same as they were before the update.

Sometimes the phone appears in the side bar of iTunes but just hangs at this for 5 minutes before becoming solid and ejecting in the same second.

Extremely frustrating problem. I have restarted my modem & router, my iPhones network settings and my MacBook Pro.

Any help would be great!

Imho all the found solutions are 'workarounds' for a not solved issue. The Wi-Fi Sync of Apple iTunes is a buggy implementation. Maybe one of the here given solutions will work for you today, but I would not give you any insurance it is working tomorrow.

Apple should do a very profound investigation in this subject. And it should improve their own website knowledge-base on this subject. The fact that they are given a very poor response to this subject may/should wonder everybody. Imho it is amazing the Apple-Uers are staying so Apple-friendly about a product that is not delivering what is should do.

So I suggest to end this subject with the very old and wise words of Ceasar & Cato the elder

- Alea jacta est ("The die has been cast")

- Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam (Furthermore, (moreover) I consider that Carthage [(= Apple iTunes nowadays WiFi-Sync implementation] must be destroyed"

You are one of the happy few. Please note that I am a big Apple fan. But iTunes and Wi-Fi connections to Apple TV, iPhones, iPads, iPods (I own them all) are famous on their instable connection.

It should not be necessary to reboot applications, computers, devices to get required connection. Don't give up, they have the ability to improve their own product!

I'm fed up with this! I'm ready to ditch ALL my Apple products! I have a MacBook Air, Airport Extreme, iPad 2 and Ipod Touch 5th Gen. ..|.

iOS 6 screwed all there devices. Before iOS 6 my Ipad and Ipod touch worked flawlessly, syncing over wifi without any issues. Apple is sticking the nose in the air and looking the other way.

Apples "ignore it and it will go away" attitude again. I'm not an Apple fanboy like many of you iSheep people on this forum.

remove (`s) from name eg. change Ram`s iPhone to Ram iPhone.sync via USB cable first, from second time it will start sync over wifi.good luck.

It works! And it was not necessary to sync via USB cable!

Just changed the name and then it became visible in the iTunes via wifi.
