Anyone still having IOS 6 wifi issues?

Doubt it. I have two 4th generation ipads, two iPhone 5s, and an iPad 2 all connected to my Apple Airport Extreme router and all running iOS 6 (currently iOS 6.1). No problems making Wi-Fi connections to the router at all.

Finally got around to upgrading my 4s &amp; 3rd gen iPad to 6.1. Too early to say for certain but the update seems to have stabilised Wi-Fi connectivity. Just as well as I was only days away from buying an Xperia Z...

I have been monitoring this thread closely as well as the IOS 6 battery drain issues. I have like 8 idevices (ipad1,2,3 iphones 3GS,4,4S, ipods) and upgraded only the 3GS to IOS6. I have to say that I have had huge issues with the 3GS WIFI connections and worst still battery drain. All other devices with IOS 5 have absolutely no problems connecting and no battery issues.

I will be buying a new phone next week, and for the 1st time in years I am actually considering a non-apple phone. If apple does not fix the WIFI and Battery issues they will continue to lose customers and stock price.

For the record there are 5 macs in the house all connected to apple TVs and airport extremes. All with no Wifi issues.

Apple please fix this problem.

If you want me advice, stay on IOS 6, not missing much on IOS 6.1.

just to clarifiy things, you said IOS6, however IOS6.1 is the latest

IOS 6.0, IOS 6.01, IOS 6.02 were train wrecks, IOS 6.1 has helped a little it seems across the board 🙂

I got the Iphone 5, and after speaking to Tim from apple supported they stated the new apple transmitters do not work with a lot of older style routers, His solution was that people update their firmware or buy new routers. So you may not be able to connect for some time until all the starbucks and Mcdonalds in the world get on board with IT solutions for older routers. Some manufacturers also don't release any new firmware updates for older routers as they are not supported anymore in favor of the newer versions. But the world usually doesn't do firmware updates and most arn't tech savvy enough to know they should do it. They just want to plug the thing in and set up a little security. So you have no other choice than to buy a new one. Don't believe me? Try connecting to an older Linksys or cysco router with no new firmware. You will get an unable to connect. Try and connect to say the Cisco N900 and you can connect no problem.

This is not just happening on the Iphone 5, but the newer Ipads as well. The 4s should have corrected itself after the 6.02 update, but the iphone 5 didn't in my case

Updated the phone and I got the same issues. Tried the fixes stated online like setty proxy to auto and shutting of cell use and entering the password for my router. Still didn't work as it would connect but wouldn't go to web pages until I turned my cell use back on. Meaning I was still using cell phone data.

I don't know why they can't simply fix the issue, but its annoying and "Buying new routers" is not a valid excuse...

I would just like to say that after exchanging my iPad for a new one (to no effect) the latest software upgrade to version 6.1 solved my problem. I can now join the free WiFi at Starbucks without having to reboot the iPad.

This has been published in another document before but not really highlighted. Apparently Apple has determined it needed to be reiterated as they published a new document today. Could explain why when folks go to the Apple store their device magically work .

This may be the cause of a problem with some people but it looks like the majority have encountered issues only after upgrading to IOS6 and, until they did, they had no problem. In my case, two iPhones and an iPad were upgraded and, immediately afterwards, indicated weak wifi signals a short distance away from my wireless router whereas they previously showed strong signals well beyond the boundary of my house. I have changed the router and this has made no difference. This is clearly not a router problem but is a feature of IOS6. The recent upgrade of IOS6 to 6.1 has made no difference. Incidentally, my router has no option to turn off or on WMM and my guess is that devices magically working in an Apple store is at least a function of the router being sited close to the store counter and with an unimpeded line of sight to the customer's device as anything else. A router sited 30 or 40 feet away and with a couple of brick walls in between it and the customer's device might well be less magical.

It is the iOS related for sure. My two iPod 4 and one iPad 1 which still on iOS 5.1 without any issue with wifi. The iPad 3 had problem after updated to the iOS 6.0. However, my issue with wifi on the iPad 3 is relieved after the iOS 6.1. In the case of the WMM it has no effect on the connectivity. My router is netgear is N300 and my firmware is not current neither. ( don't dare to upgrade as it is working )

Then explain why the vast majority of over 300 million iOS 6 installations to date apparently have no WiFi issues what-so-ever. I certainly don't and never have. This thread has maybe around 100 unique users reporting an issue. Thes rest are gawkers or repeat ranters. I don't dispute that you and others started having issues after installing iOS 6 but claiming it is some pandemic bug that Apple is covering up and not responding to is ludicrous.

You are drawing conclusions totally unsupported by what I wrote. Perhaps 100 million IOS 6 users have apparently had no issues whatsover. But perhaps they do but have not reported them, or have not detected any changes after IOS 6 upgrade or have been convinced by posts like yours that the problem is with them. The point is that many users on this and many other forums have had wifi issues after upgrading to IOS 6 and would like some sort of resolution. Allegations of gawking or repeat ranting are not helpful. i do not claim that there is a pandemic bug that Apple is covering up and not responding to, but many users have experienced wifi problems and look to this forum as a potential souce of help.

Congratulations to you that you are not having the same WiFi issues as many of us. I highly doubt it is only 100 people with this issue. The problem is this issue was created by apple and needs to be solved by them. My iPad was working great till iOS 6 came around... Now I get no WiFi signal in half of my house on the ipad. Thanks apple for giving me a $500 paper weight.

Correct Dong: It wasnt event worth a considered reply hence i didnt bother 🙂. I work in IT and looking after a companies IT Infrastructure and the list goes on; I'd like Apple to EXPLAIN to me how ALL my companies IOS 5.0 devices work like a charm, then IOS 6.0, IOS 6.01, IOS 6.02 were a DISASTER to my company, THEN IOS 6.1 came out then everything went back to normal.

Is there someone i can send Apple my bill for inconvenienced time i could of better spent looking after my company than troublshooting to find "work-around" band-aid fixes just to work again ? 🙂

Fact of the matter is, its software and a mix of hardware as they all inter-link with each other, you need software to drive hardware to perform a function.

There may be a small number of hardware issues in context to wifi reception that the chip might have a physical problem itself, aside from that you're always going to need software to tell hardware what to do.

If the software doesnt work, how do you expect hardware to perform its function correctly ?

I believe that many people have this problem with IOS6.01,6.02 and 6.1. My wireless set up levarages on 3 latest express and extreme n routers. All 7 of my IOS 5.1.1 devices work like a charm. All my mountain lion, lion, snow leopard macs have no problems. My only IOS6.1 device fails to connect and has terrible battery life.
