Is iOS 6 draining iPhone 4 battery faster?

Yes. I also updated to iOS 6.0.1 but no change in battery life and it's draining fast. The worst thing is that Apple does not issue any statement to confirm so that we can make sure it will be addressed.

I am seriously thinking to switch to another device. Just imagine if Steve Jobs was alive, he would have hanged these people for releasing incorrect maps and such buggy version of iOS.

I hope that this is not a new kind of planned obsolescence. With a deliberately bad iOS to make old equipment as useless. So that one is forced to buy a new iPhone5! 👿

It would be really helpful to get a statement of Apple, when this error will be fixed! Mistakes can happen, yes, but left in the dark is extremely annoying. Otherwise, I have to downgrade yet to iOS5.1.1. 😢

I have an iPhone 4 running iOS6 and have no battery problems. I make sure that location services is off. Settings-Privacy-Location services and also wifi and bluetooth off. I put wifi on just long enough to download emails and to check a number of news services and weather forcasts about 3 times a day. At night I leave the phone on - for about 7 hours- as I use the alarm feature, and typically the charge will go down about 2% only during that time.

I have heard that every time Apple does an update it will make the update geared toward the newest products so the product at bottom of totem pole will not be supported and become obsolete!

Maximun Battery is being consumed bt whtsapp which was not the case before i upgraded to iOS6.

I also always close all the running apps once i am done using regardless of all that it just eats up all the battery life.

It has kind of become routine to carry my charger with me most of the times as the phone could run out of battery.

If any one has upgraded to iOS6.01 could suggest does it help by any way or has made it worse.

Apple should do somthing fast.

I've read every post on this thread and tried almost all suggestions without success. The conclusion is there is no solution available to iPhone 4 and 4s users without Apple's help. Apple hardware sells at a premium price. We shouldn't have to jump through burning hoops to make iOS 6.x perform correctly. Apple's silence is deafening.

iOS 6 did not make the battery in my 4S worse, but the latest "upgrade" sure did. Since the last upgrade my battery is at least half what it was. NO other changes have been made and I stuggle to get through the day.

Prior to upgrade I was getting a day and a half.

I have an iPhone 4 and it was running fine until I upgraded to IOS 6.01....

Now, my battery drains incedibly fast now, with nothing else added or changed on my phone ..

I'm sitting at 53% now (was at 100%) and it says 2 hours 57 minutes of standby.

This latest update broke something serious... 😠

I started to have battery issues from the moment I updated to ios 6. I have just about all the settings off and it still drains faster than it used to. Is it still possible to go back to ios 5?

Yesterday i full charge my iphone and unplugged att 12h and att 00h30 iphone dies with 55% off batery in the display percentage....i dont undestamd what's going on...i recharged it that hour at 6h00am and at this moment i have 81%, but he has in flight mode from 8h00am at 15h30....send sms received and made fewcalls...recharge is about 4h to full with ios 6.0/6.0.1 Reply

I Had this problem for a while with my new iPhone 4S. But it has been getting great battery life. Easy two days with a sing all night charge. Been using all the smart features on my phone. Location services. Notifications. Push be mail. Wifi. As of today using all of those features I am at 80% charge left. It's working great so far and gets way way better battery life than any other device I have ever used. Don't know what fixed the problem but its nice to get 2 days worth of battery on a single charge. Hope apple can still help us out on what is the problem for all the rest of us users. I broke down and did a full restore to my phone. As soon as I tried to use "Push" for emails, the battery drained 1% every minute. So, to summarize:

• After installing iOS6 my battery problems started
• I have had to shut down just about everything that made my phone so handy and useful
• Apple ran a battery diagnostic on my phone and said the battery was fine
• Apple also installed and ran a bit of software on my phone that ran in the background keeping tabs on things for several days. Subsequently uploaded the file to Apple.
• Installed iOS6.01 knowing that the battery issue was not addressed in the update. I was hoping that maybe the update would improve things a little bit
• iOS6.01 made no difference
• I broke down and performed a full restore and the battery drains just as fast as before. I actually watched the battery meter drop by 1 % every minute
• Shut down just about everything on my phone in order to preserve the battery

My "Smart Phone" is a "Dumb Phone." As much as I like this phone, and even though I was going to pick up the new iPhone, I am reflecting on whether I should move to an Android platform with a Samsung phone. I am also putting off my immediate purchase of a new iPAD since I am fast losing confidence in Apple and the quality of both their hardware and software. (I have been reading about production quality in their new phone) If Apple continues down this path, I am afraid that they will once again start to lose customers and market share. It has happened before and may happen again.

Now, back to my "Dumb Phone."

I Wish I would have NEVER upgraded my I phone 4 to the 6.0!!!!!!!!! I'm thinking about switching to The Samsung galaxy 3!!!! I waited a long time to get an I phone and this is what we all have to deal with now???? And I don't see anything being done for us with the I phone 4!!!! I had my phone fully charged this morning and within 6 hours my phone was down to 6%!!!!! I cannot charge my phone 2 times a day!!!! Ridiculous !!!

i think i found a fix for this! it may not work for everyone, but i wouldn't have found it if my time was set incorrectly after restoring my ipod touch 4g. so i went into date and time settings, and noticed that the set time automatically option was stuck at the spinning wheel, so i turned it off. ever since then, my battery has gone from 100% to dead in less than an hour to more than 2 days of battery life! if you go into your date and time settings and notice that set time automattically is spinning wheel, turn it off!

Tried zamgwd's clock recommendation and sure enough, I had a forever spinng wheel, so I turned it OFF.

I also tried another suggestion someone recommended...

On my iPhone 4 using IOS6.01 under iCloud settings, I turned OFF iCal, cleared calendar from iPhone and turned it back ON under iCloud again. It merged by iPhone empty calendar from iCloud master at Apple someplace and almost immediately, my iPhone soppoed running HOT and battery life seems to be what I was used to under previous versions of IOS.

I'm now at 2 1/2 hours of standby mode and 21 minutes of use. Battery is at 97%. Previous to the changes I made above, I would have been down to 60% by now and the standby and usage figures would have been almost the same, inidcating that something was running constantly in the background.

Just my experience for what it's worth ....
