Is anyone else experiencing battery drain since iOS 6 update?
iPhone 4, iOS 6
yep im having the same issue since i update ios6 before that my battery was working very long..iphone 4 ios6
Sorry, what I meant was, when you are using Exchange on your iPhone, are you using contacts, mail, cal, etc? I tend to only use the Cal as I hate even knowing my phone is filling up with e-mail (lol).
Finally a fix, about time! I updated my phone to 6.1 the day it came out, enabled all 5 of my exchange/gmail accounts with contacts/calendar/mail...etc with push email and my battery is surviving. Before the upodate I would drop to 50% in a few hours with limited use now I'm at the end of the day with moderate use and I still have 75% left. BTW: iPhone 5.
Woah, hold the phone, there is light at the end of this evil tunnel?! I did not know that 6.1 had a battery fix as it is not listed in the update notes. Perhaps Apple slipped this one in...
Ios 6.1 gave my iPhone 4 a better battery life.
Try the update !
It's the same for me. I keep seeing posts about battery life problems on the 4S, but my iPhone 4 is also losing battery life at more than twice the rate of when I was on iOS 5. I went from 5.1 to 6.1, and am now regretting it.
SOLVED! Deleted my hotmail exchange, did a reset (home key off key) turned back on and set my exchange account back up. It works, remove all your email accounts including cloud and reload them. Try this before restoring your phone. This worked on both my phone and iPad.
My battery life was good before, but the latest upgrade has made it even better. Have no issues with battery life anymore and I've turned nothing off. I do limit location services by individual app but that's it.
Oh well, so much for that. Latest upgrade dropped battery life back to where it was. Had such high hopes..
Has anyone else upgraded to 6.1.2? I'm still at 6.1 and my battery life is horrible compared to 5.x, but I don't know if it's worth the hassle to upgrade to 6.1.2 if it doesn' fix the battery issue (I don't have any Microsoft mail accounts or apps).
I trekked to my nearest apple store today only to be offered a restore. It's not fixed the problem. My battery life is still ridiculous. Was told by apple store lakeside that this isn't a common problem and just a coincidence that my battery is screwed after downloading iOS 6. I'm so angry. I've been told to delete email accounts if the battery continues to fail. If this doesn't work I'll need a total rest and will have to wipe the phone. Now I have to waste another weekend at the super pretentious apple store. I was thinking o buy a mac air, this has so put me off anything apple now.
I totally gave up on the battery. I have had 2 Iphone 5's and still have the battery issue. I have been on the phone endlessly with support. I am really sorry I bought the phone and didn't keep my Iphone 4 and not do any of the upgrades. Apple doesn't realize they have a huge problem on there hand. I will say this I have learned my lesson and will not be buying a new Iphone again unless they can show that the battery will last more then 2 hours.
I agree FlyBoyDC10AA. But, the problem isn't the battery, it is the programs that are constantly accessing your email and the iCloud. SOLUTION: Shut down all your iCloud instances (at a minimum the Mail and Safari): Settings, iCloud, (enter password if asked), and turn off iCloud for Mail and Safari. Now go to your email accounts and delete all of them, yes I said delete them: Settings, Mail Contacts Calendars, and delete all your accounts. Reboot your iphone. Add your email accounts back in. This worked for me, added over a day to my battery life. And, it uses much less of my data plan. There seems to be a bug in iOS 6.1 that Apples doesn't seem to care about.
This also worked for me totally stopped my battery drain on iphone4 and ipad2. Hotmail exchange was my culprit. Deleted account rebooted phone and reinstalled. Remove iCloud and your emails reboot reinstall.
The problem with that, is I didn't pay almost $400 dollars for a phone that should have the capabillities to do all that. If that is the solution then I would have been better off saving my money and keeping my old Iphone. I have a grandfathered in plan which gives me unlimited data. so I don't care how much data I use as my rate doesn't change. It is ashame that Apple knowing they where going to be coming out with a phone that should be able to handle all it was ment to do can't. I know apple tech support also told me to turn everything off the phone, to which I replied I didn't spend all that money for the phone not to preform the way it is suppose to. I just learned to live with a quick draning battery and make sure that I have my USB cable with me at all times if I need to charge the phone.
