iMessage not delivering messages ios 6

After upgrading 1 of my iphone 4 handsets to ios 6, imessage has stopped delivering messages to other ios 6 handsets

When switching off iMessage and sending via SMS every message is delivered x10 tests to ios6 iphone 4

Re-initiating iMessage, then iMessages sent from to iphone 4 on ios6 to another iphone 4 on ios 6 are not delivered ( some times it even says delivered when it hasn't been)

Sending iMessage from iphone 4 on ios 6 to iphone 4 on ios 5.1 no problem delivered every time.

Sending iMessage from iphone 4 on ios 5.1 to iphone 4 on ios 6 no problem delivered every time.

problem seems to be with iMessages from ios 6 to ios 6

iMessage turned off and reactivated 4 times

phone has been restarted 2 times

cant think of any other testing to do.

This needs to be sorted quickly as i don't know what I am missing until someone calls and said did you get my messages... em no !

Turns out I spoke too soon. I've had Facebook integration with my address book off, and shut down iMessage for a few days. I turned it back on (FB still off) and I was able to deliver several imessages rapidly, and then after a few messages it came to a halt - went back to failing. I even updated my carrier settings, hoping that might help but no - still an issue.

I was having the issue where my iPhone 5 would not receive or send via iMessage most of the time, and I can confirm that T.Raw's fix works. This only works if you have multiple devices and they're set to send and receive at your phone number. My iPad was set to send and relieve at both my phone and two emails and as soon as I unchecked the phone number and turned iMessage off and back on on both iPad and iPhone it works now.

I've been having issues with this all night. Trying to figure it out brought me to here. My wife has an iPhone, I have an iPhone and we have one iPad which we share, but predominiantly used by me. We were having a weird loop where I'd send a message from the iPad and it would show up as being sent from her phone #. I've gone to the iPad settings and sure enough, her phone # is in there. However, if I click on my apple id, MY phone number is what's reflected when I select "view account" and then go to "Manage Apple ID." As far as I can see, I cannot change the # on the iPad, which seems extremely odd. Until I can make it my phone #, I can't sync between iPad and iPhone. Anyone have a way to do this?

Hi,

Well guess what, I've NOT been able to send iMessages and I have updated to IOS 6.1 2 days ago.

Nothing changed.

IOS 6 also ate all my mobile data with the Podcast app downloading podcasts via mobile data even if it's turned off in the app. So I had to turn off mobile data for the whole phone.

Result now, I want to switch back to use SMS instead of iMessage but IOS 6 requests me to switch ON mobile data to be able to enable iMessage and then be able to switch on to sms. whyyyyy ?

This is a nightmare, it's a perfect example of technology not been tested before it's released and of marketing having decided to release to be first on the market, although the product is not ready. The negative is that Apple are distroying their image of reliability and ease of use that they took so much time to build. Is it a coincidence...Steve Jobs is gone and the next thing you know it all goes sooo wrong?

Who is going to paid for my mobile data overusage? Who is even going to apologise for the hassle with not even being able to send a text message, and the consequences this could have as we, users, now rely on this technology. I haven't seen Apple acting courageously and admitting their failure... shame.

If it's not ready, don't release it, releasing it is 10 times worse than being late on the market...

I have a similar situation. I purchased a new iphone through a phone company and they transferred my old phone number accross. Now, when I make calls they go out via my old number but my messages are sent via a new number (which I have never heard of). There is no option for me to change the numbers through the settings.

Is this a phone company issue? Or an Apple issue?

Okay, another update, now BACK to the same problem. This is really frustrating. Here's what is happening:

• In "Messages" on iPad, Send & Receive shows my wife's phone number. There is no second phone number now.

HOWEVER

• when I sign out and check MY account, my CORRECT phone number is in my account. My wife's is nowhere to be found.

This makes no sense and is infuriating. Where exactly are they pulling that number from? Not my account b/c it shows my number. Post-update to 6.0.1 I'm back to the loop of having texts sent from my iPad, that should be linked to my account, showing as being sent from my wife's number, and, there is no option to choose the number. I can no longer sign out as I did a few messages ago to get my number to show. That solve no longer works apparently.
