iOS 6 Bluetooth problems

So I have an iPhone 4S and IPad 2. I have updated them both to iOS 6 and am having Bluetooth problems on both devices... It connects and plays for about a minute and for some odd reason it cuts out every couple seconds/minutes. I have to keep pausing or skipping tracks in order for the music to play comfortably again. This happens to me on BOTH devices and also happens on my buddies iPhone 4S as well.

I never had any of these problems in iOS 5... So does anyone know if it could be a bug or how I can fix it?

I finally got my AVH-P2400BT updated to the latest firmware. I can confirm that everything is working as it should . . . exactly as it was before ios 6.x. The 6.1 upgrade by itself did nothing. I pity those whose manufacturers are not able to update firmware like I could with my Pioneer. The manufacturer should not have to bail out Apple.

The previous upgrade instructions and file location was for a Windows XP system. I have a Windows 7 system which couldn't connect that way. The Pioneer USA site has the same file but instructions for Windows 7.

The file required and instructions can be found here http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/UnAssigned-Content/Firmware+Updates/O ptional+Bluetooth+Firmware+Update+for+Select+2012+Pioneer+CD+and+DVD+Receivers

I have a Pioneer App Radio AVH-P4400BH and after upgrading to iOS 6 i lost the ability to navigate tracks from my dash controlls. I downloaded the bluetooth firmware update from Pioneer along with a PDF on how to do it (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/UnAssigned-Content/Firmware+Updates/O ptional+Bluetooth+Firmware+Update+for+Select+2012+Pioneer+CD+and+DVD+Receivers)

and with the help of a bluetooth enabled laptop in a few minutes the update was done and my functionality was restored. The problem IS NOT Apple and a "Bug" in iOS 6 its that the bluetooth AVRCP controll was upgraded and some radios are running an older version... so if you are waiting for Apple to "fix" the issue dont hold your breath. They are not likely to revert to an older version... you get to call shots like that when you are the "Big Kid" in the playground. Upgrade your firmware on whatever device you are connecting to... Trust me... I was highly upset when I updated and cot in my car and found i could not skip tracks with in dash, remote, or on wheel controls... READ and find the update for your manufacturer. I can also say that Pioneer will have me as a customer next time. If i had bought a 450$ deck for my car a year ago and lost functionality without a firmware update I would be ******... just like Apple I will buy Pioneer for life 🙂

Hi DrRcf,

I just got the IVE-W530Abti working with IO6 BT audio throught the update to 1.27 on the alpine website.

however still dissapointed that you need to manually connect each time you start the car. so you need to goto another source then connect BT then go back to BT source (really annoying) going to email alpine about it.

good luck with it the update can be tricky.

I had the same problem, except my iPhone 4S would not pair at all with my FlexSMART X2. I upgrade my iPhone to iOS 6.1.1 this morning and the problem is GONE! I had to go through the manual pairing procedure to get them paired the first time, now they pair when ever they 'see' each other! Upgrade your iOS and maybe you'll have the same good result!

I have an iPhone 4S, IOS 6.0.1 and recently upgraded my original Bose SoundDock to include bluetooth. I experienced the issue with bluetooth streaming interruptions, maybe once every 4-5 mins for 0.5-1sec. It has been very well documented in this discussion. I have upgraded to IOS 6.1 but the bluetooth issue persists.

What I have found is that if I turn off WI-FI then the streaming works without interruption. Clearly this is not a fix or even an elegant workaround but it does work for me. Not sure if this has been mentioned before in the discussion as I couldn't really spare the time to read all the posts in this 26 page discussion!

I notice that some people are saying that IOS 6.1 has resolved the issue for them but it seems not fixed for everyone. To those who still experience the problem, try turning off WI-FI and see if that helps. Also if you are reporting to Apple let them know that turning off WI-FI resolves the issue. It should help the people that hopefully are still working on the problem to isolate the software problem.

I have to say I am very disappointed in Apple's support on this important issue. I feel powerless to get my point across to Apple.

I can only pass along my experience. I upgraded my iPhone 4 to ios 6 and lost what was a previously perfectly working bluetooth. Music would halt, skip, bluetooth connection would drop, etc., i.e., all the problems reported here. I manually deleted all my music from the the phone and then reloaded. Voila, everything came back to life! I am now able to stream my music, Pandora, etc. to my Honda Odyssey. Before, this was totally non-operational. The Honda hasn't been upgraded and the iPhone was still at 6.01 but all of te sudden everything worked again. I just upgraded to 6.1 and still okay. Don't know if this will help, but something in the upgrade process seems to break the music/bluetooth libraries. If this works for you, please post. Maybe Apple will actually listen!!!!!

I have an Iphone 4S and 3GS both upgraded to ios 6 are having the same problems with all my BT audio equipment (sennheiser bt360 headphones, jawbone boombox speakers, jabra sport earphones, logitech BT receiver which I use for home theater), my ipad which I did not upgrade works just fine. As an Apple customer since the very first ipod touch, I am considering of switching all my apple products with Android since Apple is not only failing to meet the expectations but turning a blind eye to it's customers problems.

Don't know if this will work for you, but I upgraded my iPhone 4 to ios 6 like you and the BT world turned to S**T. None of my music or Pandora would play through my Honda Odyssey or through my $500K motorhome though all worked fine with ios 5.xx. So, I deleted all of my music from the iPhone and reloaded. Magically, all music plays fine now and Pandora works again. I haven't a clue as to why. BTW, just upgraded the 6.01 to 6.1 and Apple succeeded in not breaking it again.
