Logic Pro keep playing and WILL NOT STOP!

Hi there folks,

I just bought a brand new computer. I went from using Logic Pro on a 2009 MacBook Pro with 8 gb of memory to a 2.44 ghz 12-core Mac Pro with 24 gb of memory. I just started working on a song that was stalling quite often with Logic on the old computer and 1) find it still stalls! and 2) often during playback it suddenly becomes unresponsive to the stop button (either moused on the screen or hit with the space bar) and just keeps playing. What should I do? Is this a known problem?

At first I thought it might be the Abbey Road plugins, which do not work well in 10.7 or 10.8 (I'm running 10.8.1 btw). But after removing all instances from this song and deleting the files from the computer Logic is still misbehaving badly.

The only other plugins I have loaded up on this computer are Valhalla room, Valhalla Shimmer (which I'm not using in this song), Kontakt (which I'm not using with this song), Trillian and Waves CLA-2a/3a/76.

If anyone can help I'd be eternally grateful. This is so wildly frustrating! I figured after shelling out this much money and taking 2 solid weeks to very carefully set up the computer it would be smooth sailing. 😟

this has been driving me nuts too --- seems to have something to do with altering parameters on some plugins while Logic is playing..

but BESSINOX, above, is right --- seems that when Logic is frozen and wont respond, i just goto the Launchpad (by moving my mouse to bottom corner of the screen), Logic then will immediately catch up with itself.

kinda SOLVED. for real.

Hey Guys,

I keep getting posts regarding this issue in my email and thought I would shed some light on the problem.

It's not a Logic problem. It's Mountain Lion issue! As I have stated before, it probably has something to do with Window Control Class within ML. It's an Event control issue in the code! Apple obviously doesn't regard as a major issue, and therefore hasn't fixed it.

SOLUTION - Go back to Lion or Snow Leopard. I went back to Lion, everything is fine!

Hope that helps - Brent

yeagh, great, two weeks ago i bought a mac pro 32 G memory and now with this "fantastic operating system 10.8.2" is imposible to work. now trying to work with Logic 9.1.8 64 bits waves Q10 and spectro analyzer and has been ten o 15 minutes blocked, impossible to stop it. Fantastic apple, you are doing a very good work! i have paid 5000 euros and now i can not work!! Stop directing your attention only and exclusively to the iphones and ipads!!!

If you want to get Apple's attention you will have to do more than post on their own user forums website, we're users just like yourself.

I would call Apple with your complaint, raise h#ll about the situation, you're preaching to the choir here.

Just to clarify... It is an OS X issue and not a Waves one but someone at Waves came up with a work around fix for those having the lag issues with some of their plugins.... Which i believe you can obtain if your are a registered Waves owner.. It is only effective for Waves plugins and is not a general fix for all plugins that exhibit this behavior.

I do not think that is a waves problem but i will have a look,thanks,... and yes i am gonna complain to apple of course but is important to put my complains in a forum, why not?

Not saying you shouldn't post, just that posting here will not put any pressure on Apple... however, if a person makes the effort to call, that shows a different kind of commitment, one that is more serious than a post on a user forum. If everyone here that complained about this problem had called Apple, who knows, there may have been a fix by now?

Yeah. The fix is called ableton live

Being a user of Live 8 and now Live 9... Live has it's own set of long standing bugs...

PDC issues... (One of the most complained about problems/'features'!)

The Slow Tempo Automation issue

and...

The really annoying 'failure to remember audio configuration settings' bug that plagues some people endlessly it seems...

So.. in summary...

I'm sorry, I use Logic 9.1.9 with ML 10.8.5

I think you mean Logic 9.1.8.....

You wrote about "The Slow Tempo Automation issue"

That post relates to Ableton Live issues not Logic ones...

I have track where I use two tempo and two signature. And I have problem with Cycle: when I stop track, sound is continued for a while.

My sound card is TC Electronic Desktop 6

What plugins are you using on that track(s)? Are any of them ones that have to read ahead.. like certain Mastering plugins? Ozone for example... or some EQs...

To test, disable plugins and then play and see if the issue continues...

I use a free Kontakt for couple track and standart Logic plugin: EQ, Compressor

I have some graphic glitch tоо: sometimes some part of screen is froze for a while

I installed ML on my Mac mini 2012 with core i7 and after that I restored user's profile from my previous system on new installation

I think I need to reinstall OS X and Logic and new user's profile too

Because according my experience It's bad for Logic performance and stability when you restore system (profile) from other system or install new OS update on old OS X

it's sadness..
