Kenwood headunit not working with ios 6 in bluetooth audio

I have a Kenwood headunit and it used to display song titles and I was able to change the song on the headunit itself while I was in Bluetooth audio. It worked on iOS 5 but now with iOS 6 it doesn't. It only shows up when plugged into headunit using a usb cord. I want to be able to use the Bluetooth again where I can change the song without having to use my iPod like it was before.

I have an iPhone4 and a Pioneer AVH-P2400BT car unit. I've upgraded to IOS 6. The update (from what I've tried and what I can tell) is NOT reversible.

Here's what I've found happening between the iPhone & Pioneer for bluetooth streaming audio:

1. The track/artist info no longer displays.

2. The track skip buttons no longer function.

3. The pause/play button no longer functions. It may SEEM like it does, but it simply mutes the audio, the content continues to play (silently) on the iPhone.

4. The content no longer resumes when the vehicle is started.

5. The content will pause when the vehicle is turned off, but a couple of seconds continue (silently) on the iPhone.

6. If content is paused by the vehicle being turned off, it will resume playing on the iPhone speakers following an incoming phone call, whether answered or not. (This can be a little embarrassing, depending on the content of your prefferred podcasts! 😊 )

I am also having this same issue. I have an iPhone 5 and a Pioneer AVH-P3400BH and like fjr_birddog have exactly the same issues as he listed. Has anyone heard if there is a firmware update required on the equipment or if there is an update for the ios coming for this issue?

It seems that if it is effecting more than one brand of bluetooth head unit then it wouldn't be a firware issue it would be an iPhone issue.

I have the same problem with a new iPhone 5 and the CDE-133BT. The most crippling aspect is not being able to use my phone through my car system. I am a physician and need to receive and make hands free calls during my commute.

Dear Apple,

It is a terrible sign that I check your forums daily hoping for a remedy to this Bluetooth connectivity problem for a brand new product. Here I find a growing number of your customers with the same complaint. After weeks of visiting these forums with no solution in sight, I do not see even an aknowledgement of the problem from the company. The car system manufacturer also is waiting on you for a response to address the situation.

What happened to "it just works?"

Regretfully Yours,

A soon to be former customer 😟
