iMessage won't work after iOS 6 upgrade
Since I've installed iOS 6, it seems my iMessage will not work correctly.
Any suggestions on how I could fix this?

I managed to come up with a workaround and it's helped me and a few others. Worth a shot:
Not sure I'm in the right area but every time I go to sign in in iMessage or face time it gets to the verifying page it goes back to the login in screen. I have restored all my apple products etc. and I keep going in that loop?
The good news is I fixed this by going to general settings-reset-reset network settings. When you log back in to your network, imessage works. The bad news is it only worked for 2 messages then I had to reset again. Frustrating!
I have the same problem. It works on the iPad 3 (iOS6), but won't deliver a message sent from the desktop "Messages" app (v10.8.2).
Just had the same issue when upgrade to ios6. The upgrade changed the settings. This is what I did to fix it.
Settings>Messages>Send & Recieve
Make sure your phone number is in there and not your email address. If it is your email address change it to your phone number and you should be fine.
I had the same issues until I found this link: http://www.thejtsite.com/blog/single/imessage-and-facetime-waiting-for-activatio n-on-iphone-5
I worked for my old iPhone 4 as well after upgrading it. Evidently there is a difference between activating using wifi or activating using my simcard.
On my iPad (not-cellular) I activated using my Apple-id and then chosing my main mail address. Now everythong works fine and I can send messages between all devices.
hold the sleep button then slide then turn it back on and it will work
It sounds like your device is low on RAM. What you need to so is double click the home button to go to the musltitasking bar, hold your finger down on one of the apps and delete all of the apps running in the background on your multitasking bar.😉
I just had my number ported over to a new carrier, and had to do a restore to my iPhone 4 in order to unlock it prior to changing carriers. Once the restore was done, I could not iMessage either.
For me the fix was to turn off SMS and MMS messaging options under message settings, and leave IMessage option ON.
Then I sent an iMessage to another device, went back in and turned MMS and SMS back on, and iMessage continues to work
Hope this helps someone, who like myself, has likely spent hours trying all other options!!
I had a similar problem. I managed to fix it by going to settings, wifi, clicking on the blue arrow next to the wifi I was using, and changing DNS to 8.8.8.8 hope this helps!
i have tried everything on the board here....i updated to the 6 on my iphone4 and now imessage is wonky and wont connect....what was strange was that it worked at my moms house on her wifi but it wont work on my wifi at my house...so strange....i am also having trouble connecting to the bell network for data too...been waitng 4 days to get more tech support ....my iphone is just a cell now...no features seem to work even on wifi unles i am at moms! haha
Well I found this solution after many tries;
1. Connect your phone to itunes
2. Go to your device under the applications tabs
3. Delete a random app
4. Get tin foil
5.Open a jar of name brand skippy peanut butter (otherwise this wont work)
6. Put as much of this on your phone
7. Put it into microwave and set on high for Aproximately 5 minutes
8. Make sure to rub some of the peanut butter on your face to ensure this process works
9.Put the tin foil back where you got it
10.??
11.Profit
I have tried everything on here and still no sucess. I am currently working in Afghanistan and my partner and I set up facetime and planned to use iMessage to stay in touch over here, as there is WIFI on my base but no phone service. Thanks to me updating to IOS 6 last night on my iPhone 4S i have lost the ability to message and facetime with my loved ones back home while deployed here. Our entire plan for contact was using apples technology!!
Nothing from Apple about this problem. Apple do you not realise people rely on your technology and pay large amounts of money for this. The extra stress this places on my family back home as i cannot be in regular contact with them now!!
sorry to hear Strunky! i was in a similar position as you and need my imessage and my facetime to keep in touch while travelling....i did find a way to fix this problem...but it kept recurring and i had to redo it several times ...but its worth a shot...i went into the general settings then to imessage and then turned it off went back out to general and did the same with Facetime....then i went to general and reset network settings ...which gives u a reboot...and then i went back into imessage and turned it back on....you will see it connecting to server when you do that ...now when you go into facetime to do it....you may have to do a reset again and go back in...but do same for just the facetime...not good at explaining but hope u get what i mean...it was posted on this thread and thats how i saw it to know to try it...good luck
