My iTunes crashed.
I am getting the same message
The iTunes Library file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission for this file.
Checking the Info for each of the 4 iTunes Library files, itl, Genius.itdb and Extras.itdb along with iTunes Music Library.xml
All the files are Unlocked, I have Read Write access to them all and I can creat files on my boot drive, the same drive as the iTunes Library files.
So it appears...
Either iTunes error report is just plain lying or all the information about the files in Info is wrong.
Both are disturbing.
Anyone know how I cangain access to my iTunes again, I run 60k songs, 14k TV episodes, and few thousand movies out of it around the house.
I would really like iTunes to be working again.
mmmm Thought I would try Disk Utility to unlock the files.
But Disk Utility is just hanging with "Gathering disk information"
I am reluctant to have to reboot, I have have two long term tasks running.
I have an offsite backup running that takes a few days and a video encode that has another 12 hrs to run.
I am pretty disturbed that playing music through iTunes should cause this much mayhem, causing iTunes to crash and hang up Disk Utility
Try clicking on the file, then command I, this should bring up an info pane, see if locked is clicked, if it is click to unlock it, unless someone has password locked it.
I did what you said- it was not locked.
Any other ideas?
A reboot fixed it.
I haven't had that much weirdness off an operating system since Windows 3.11
Wow regression - love it
