iPhone 4: no text tone with iOS 6

Since updating to iOS 6, my iphone 4 text tone doesn't go off whether the phone is locked or unlocked.

What do I do? Thanks

Regarding deddun's post; the "flick up" feature (called the "Control Center") can cause a lot of problems, especially if you accidentally activate it. To avoid this: Settings>Control Center>Access on Lock Screen: OFF

If this feature is set to ON, you could accidentally activate the Control Center when you reach into your pocket/purse and your finger slides over the touch screen just right.

When the Control Center opens under these circumstances, there's also a good chance that while you're rummaging around in your purse/pocket, your finger will trip a setting like Do Not Disturb; causing you to miss calls/texts! This happened to me several times before I stumbled upon the setting that was responsible for it.

You can also accidentally activate an app ...like the flashlight. This is only useful if your keys are afraid of the dark. I don't know if the flashlight automatically shuts off after a certain time frame. I luckily discovered it was on because I was in a darkened theater. Hopefully it does shut off automatically so that this doesn't drain the battery before you discover that your phone has been putting on a light show for your wallet. Ugh.

In my case, I had a customized received text tone assigned to my wife. When she texts me, it's a big train whistle - Choo Choo tone. 4s - iOs6.

Just this afternoon it switched to downward swoosh(default receive text) even though Choo Choo Train is clearly assigned in my wife's contact properties. Do Not Disturb is disabled and phone is unmuted.

Are these phones & iPod touches just too complex for their own good??
