How can you get Google Maps back. This new Apple Maps feature is HORRIBLE
If you haven't upgraded to iOS 6 yet, and you are (rightly) concerned about losing google maps, just relax, don't do it!
There is no way to downgrade. Apple does NOT tell you this, and even making what should be a full backup with iTunes won't take you back to 5.1.1
Just wait it out. There are NO transit directions or information on the apple maps, and many people have pointed out a lot of missing areas, including hospitals and airports that are in the wrong place.
Just wait, don't upgrade to iOS 6.
Avoid the urge to upgrade until you are ready. That is, until you are completely satisfied you can live without the essential feature of google maps.
I hope we soon see again Google street view. All other apps are crap, i tried! This what is in iOS 6 is terrible. You can visit service and ask them remove iOS 6 and replace that with iOS 5.
And all other app will be terrible if they not make agreement with Google, beacuse nobody don t have this kind of recources what Google invested for shooting allmost all streets in the world, Apple you can say what you want but all other apps are like fooling back to stoneage! This is one big mistake, i hope you don t do them lot.
Just say yes this is mistake, solve it. Agree again with Google and all are happy.
So you saying other apps are us good as Google Maps. Very good, show me at least one app who shows me streetview? So far i tried all others and they are crap!
1. Rule one - don t reapair working thing!
2. You fool repaired working thing?
3. Reconize at you done mistake.
4. Fix it!
5. How?
6. Add back working app (google maps/street view).
7. And all are happy again.
Apple, the two capabilities I'm missing are street view and real-time traffic updates. I know there are other apps that bring those capabilities to iOS, but non are as good, as accurate or as functional as Google's version. I know this is conjecture, but I don't believe Steve Jobs would have allowed functionality to be removed from iOS and replaced with an Apple app until the Apple version was at least up to par with the functionality being replaced. We've seen this many times with past iOS updates. Apple would not deploy a functionality until they knew it worked right! I guess there's a new sheriff in town, but he's willing to compromise for a dollar. This is the first time I wish I didn't upgrade! I WISH I COULD GO BACK TO 5.1!!!
"i" in the apple products has began to take new meaning after Steve Jobs !
now apple wants to tell the customer's, take whatever "i" want to give you, not want you want !
There will be no Google maps app in the store, Apple do not allow app creators to replicate core functions that they provide.
Smile you love it.

Oh, you mean like Calendar, Mail and Music? There are already many apps that 'replicate' those, as well as plenty of other maps apps in the App Store... see Maps+, Waze, Bing, Navigon, MapQuest, etc..
The definition is the key thing in this case, there may be apps that do things that are very similar, but not identical functions. A google map app would be all but identical to the new map app. I would be very surprised if apple allowed google to put it on the App Store.
Sorry tried out all that, they are just in stoneage. Lot of Iphone users feel like they are cheated by Apple! If you read book -Steve Jobs then you can read that he wanted creat best psoosible product of the market and for user. So far it is done this way, but now we see Apple is going after own intrest, user isnt anymore importent. You playing with fire, Nokia started same way... User must have freedom to choose what app they want use!! I want use best possible! Actualy this is good that iOS 6 got out early then iPhone 5. I wanted to buy 5 but not anymore. I will stay on my 4S with flashed back to iOS5 (yes you can flash back to ios5, go service pay little money and you get back ios5) system.

None of the alternative map programs/aps work as well as Google Maps.
For those of you waiting for a new Google Map App for Downgrade ios6 you will wait many years. Street View is essential and how many years will it take Apple to copy Street View?
All the negative feedback is actually a good thing. I hope all you people who can't live without google maps are actually going to apple.com/feedback and letting apple know. The support forum communities will not be able to pursuade apple to do anything.
I'm guessing Apple can get their maps databases up to par pretty quick. I wouldn't be suprised by next year at this time they will have a large market share in the mobile maps market.
Why is street view essential?
nope they are not
google's Schmidt confirmed two days ago that there is no google maps app awaiting apple approval, and they are not workimg on one at this time either.
there will be no google maps app for ios6 anytime im near future unless apple requests it
There is a way to downgrade to ios5, and get google maps back, but you will have to google it. sadly, such an endevour is beyond the skills of most ios users though
Read this and you will understand why apple went the way they did. Google forced them to.
