New map with update doesnt show traffic?

If you tap on the page curl on the lower right corner of the map, you will see an option to "show traffic".

As far as I can tell, the new maps app only shows traffic problems but does not highlight sections of road without traffic. You might recall that Google maps draws the open sections of road with a green line and the traffic heavy sections with a red line. Judging by my drive to work this morning, the new maps app only seems to draw red lines for traffic zones.

Another excellent alternative to the maps application for driving directions is the free Waze app in the app store. It also shows traffic conditions, and I use it often.

I'm guessing this feature will not be available since it's no longer "google maps". Too bad, I used the feature daily. The color and lenght of the lines is much more helpfull than an indicator that does not tell how slow traffic is or what distance it has backed up. Apple should rethink this.
