Siri still won’t make international calls

I was so excited for ios 6, thinking for sure Siri would now make international calls. But, alas, when I ask her to call a person who’s number begins with 001, she responds, “Sorry, I can’t place this call.” WNY IS THAT, I have many international calls that I regularly make...???

When you enter phone numbers into contacts make sure you enter the number with the prefix that dials international number out from your country. the phone can do that automatically for you with the + sign. If you wanted to ring me my country code is 61 my area code is 07 and my phone number is XXXXXXXX so you would enter my number in contacts as +617XXXXXX. the leading zero drops out. To ring my mobile (cell) you would enter it as +614XXXXXXX even thou my cell number is 0419XXXXXX

Like I said the leading zero in a number or area code sometimes causes problems. My cell number is 0419 XXX XXXX but if someone wants to call me from overseas they need to enter my number in their contacts as +61419 XXX XXX.

The + is the international dialling code 61 is my country code and the rest is my cell number (with the leading zero removed. If someone wants to call me and they are in the same countr as me then either +61419 XXX XXX OR 0419 XXX XXX will reach me.
