Satellite pictures pixelated in iOS 6 Maps - and that's the least of it?

The detail is all gone from the satellite pictures, and everything is pixellated - why is this?

There is shockingly poor detail in the iOS 6 maps.

The maps system seems to have reverted to a TomTom-like system which in my region is said to be very poor at providing POIs or uptodate mapping.

The names of towns and streets are often totally incorrect or lacking altogether.

Fortunately i have a Garmin App, but I have been looking forward to the turn by turn with siri integration which was heralded.

Is it possible to revert to Google maps for normal browsing?
