Don´t get me wrong- this modifications may reduce the Shutdown-Time- but they don´t fix the Issues with the unsuccsessfull termination of the related Processes.😢
Imho it´s like eating Headache-Pills again Headaches caused by hitting the head with a hammer.😉
Apple should (must) fix the Issues, then You don´t need the .plist-Pills anymore.😁
Yup, you're right. I also agree that apple must fix these issues, at least in 10.8.4 beacuse its a pain in the *** to see a mac shutting down in 15-20 secs and all Windows 8 users around me are like "ooooooo booooo" 😐. But for now gotta take these .plist pills to make my life easier until Dr. Apple suggests me some medicines 😝
And "headache caused again by hitting head with a hammer" lol 😁
I too had the same problem with startup and shutdowns, my mac pro with a new fresh SSD usually boots in like 8-10 seconds from the apple logo and pinwheel start, over time i noticed it growing slower and slower on boot and shutdown, and the solution was easy, #1 after the update to 10.8.4 I noticed that the UBD framework was going batshit and Activity monitor pegged it at 100% cpu most of the time, If i renamed the privateframework I could get it to work, (once) then it would not boot, (important saftey tip) , long story short I did two things,
#1 cleaned up my LaunchDaemons, removed alot of crap i dont need or ever will use.
#2 I downloaded OnyX from the macupate and let it do all the cleaning and maintenance tabs, and walah, shutdowns are like 4 seconds and bootup is flat at 5 after pinwheel start, its nicer and doesnt freak out,
also every now and then run a disk utility permission repair.
Hope this helps you all as it did me.
btw heres a link for the app Onyx from Macupdate
Thx for the info and I'll give this a shot (soon)! -GFJS.
I am using the mac book pro 15 inch late 2013 running OSX 10.9.4 and I did what u told...and it worked perfectly fine for me...Thanks Bimmer
i have the same issue my mac book pro experience slow start up after upgraded new OS
Here's the idea......open up system preferences and go to startup disk.......there select your Macintosh Hd or whatever your Mac HD is and click on restart...restart with the reopen windows when logging back in option unchecked.....once it restarts it will run smoothly as before....

The disk needs to be re-indexed by Spotlight after a new OS is installed, that takes a while and the Mac will run slower until it is finished.
Thanks that worked for me. I had a OCZ 512 Vertex Drive and just cloned a 1TB Samsung 850 EVO drive with Super Duper. the Vertex would boot in under 20 seconds and after I installed the Samsung it took almost a minute to boot up. Checking that box brought the boot time back to under 20 seconds. 🙂
