Why is Contacts delete greyed out?
I can not find a way to delete contacts. I select a name and there is no delete button. The delete under edit menu is greyed out.

Select the card and press the delete key.
EDIT: If that doesn't work Quit Contacts then in Finder use your "Go" menu > "Go to folder" > then enter
~/Library/Preferences
then find and delete com.apple.AddressBook.plist
Relaunch Contacts and test
Thank you, but that didn't make a difference. The delete button does not delete the selected card. The Edit menu Delete Cards is still greyed out, and I am unable to edit any information within a card.
Are you looking at a Facebook contact's card?
I hope not, I have no facebook account. I'm just using Apple's application, "Contacts".
Here is a message from the terminal when I press the [delete] key when a name/card is selected from within Contacts.

First make backup of the Contacts by going to the File menu, Export, Contacts Archive.
Then, delete this file:
~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/AddressBook-v22.abcddb
That is an index database that gets recreated automatically. It appears to be corrupt.
The ~ means your user home folder. You can get to the user Library by holding down the Option key and selecting Library from the Go menu in Finder.
Yup, deleting ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/AddressBook-v22.abcddb worked.
Thank you
