Lightning cable USB connector stuck!

Thank you! Just had this problem when I replaced an old USB 2.0 hub with a new USB 3.0 hub. I took an old expired cardboard wallet card (thin, but firm cardboard, cut a piece out just about the width of the inside of the USB connector, and wedged it under the bottom of the lightning connector, but above the bottom of the metal housing of the USB 3.0 receptable. I had to then push the cardboard in (that's why firm cardboard helps, try bending the end closer toward you to give leverage) and then push it in. Once the cardboard is in, the connector will come out.

I now have the lightning connector attached to a USB extension cable as GabeZs suggested.

I had the exact same problem, I had to use a needle nose pilers to get it off... Of course it scratched the cable plastic holder, but at least the damage is merely aesthetically… However, when I plugged it into the USB port on my Mac Mini I had no problem. It also works fine with the charger.

I'm fanatic for Apple and its products, but there is a lesson here not only for them but to all electronic manufacturers: The smallest, tiniest, microscopic design problem may cause a giant headache for all your users!

THANKS APPLE!!!! Tried to pull it out using the cord as leverage and now the cord is broken too AND the connector is still stuck. Your design phails, hard.

The new, longer, Apple cable has a better USB plug.

Same thing happened to me too but on an Acer usb host port.

Shutdown the laptop and had to use a feeler gauge to release the bottom pins on the host port.

Well this is quite discouraging. I knew that little extension that comes with flash drives would in handy one day.

Thanks for the tip. Cut the paper, inserted on the bottom side of USB port, wiggled up and down while slowly pulling out. Came right out.

It's a tight fit, just experianced it.

I too have had exactly the same issue today in my Fiat 500!!

Ended up havign to dismantle the whole soket from the car the prise it out with a screw driver!

Passing thought - has anybody claimed that you can effectively plug a wired USB keyboard into the Lightning port? You certainly couldn't do it with the 30 pin port.

So went to apple store as usual they have heard nothing about this. Still really annoyed they still have no accessories. Picked up another cable on its own design is exactly the same.

Apple has a problem on their hands but will probably not move on it very quickly until somebody like CNET or some other media outlet picks it up.

This is extremely agrivating. Does Apple have any plans to replace these?
