How did you get them to send you a replacement?  I told the rep about my situation and the cord is stuck at my work computer.  He said what do you want me to help you with?  Order a new one?  And I told him about people having the same issues on the boards and asked him has he ever heard of this.  His reply was no and his only advice is to buy another cable.

I had this happen too.  The support agent told me to bring my desktop PC to Best Buy and have the Geek Squad look at it. LOL... I ripped it out.

Maybe I believe to much in Murphy's law, but the out of the box, I plugged the lightning cable into a USB extender cable. That is what I plug into my iMac or "cube" charger.

I too am having a problem with my cable getting stuck. I stopped using it in my car, for fear of breaking something. I'll be paying a visit to my local Apple Store this weekend, and will bring it up then.

I thought I was the only one with this issue. I first thought it was my PC. I then changed USB port and same thing. It would not come out of the port. If I squeeze the USB cable at it's entrance (the white part) , I can then slowly, with some resistance, pull it out of the port safely. I have read eleswhere on the forum other similar threads. Hopefully, Apple will address this soon with a replacement cable. photo.JPG

BTW, thanks Robert S. I will be buying a UBS extender cable tomorrow to avoid this problem until Apple gets their act together.

I damaged my new Infiniti G37xS USB port two days ago when I had to yank out the Apple iPhone5's USB cable out of it.  I couldn't get it out no matter how hard I tried, and I had to wrap the cord around my fingers, then yank it out as hard as I could.  In doing so, the whole power console became dislodged!  I cannot imagine how tight it must have been to yank out my entire power console. Trusting Apple, I unwittingly ordered more USB cables, and now I regret that purchase, because I will now have three bad cables, and who knows what it it ruin next.  I hesitate to plug them into ANYTHING at this point.

Filling the deep slots partially/completely on the USB Plug of the cable should provide funtional solution for now.

I guess any of these material can be used.

    - hot glue

    - putty

    - small pieces cutouts of plastic cards like old creditcard and glueing them in the slots/dents.

    - or any imaginable solid that can be filled in the dents.

Count me in as another user having this trouble, suck in my 12v USB charger. The USB end of this cable is defective.

It's baffling why Apple felt the need to modify the USB end of the cable. Do USB standards not apply to Apple? I have tons and tons of USB cables and of all that I have examined, I have always seen the USB standard adhered to with the internal white section (where the spring fingers apply pressure to keep the cable in) being the same in every single one. The only deviant I've ever seen (here in this discussion) is the Apple Lighting cable. It's simply ridiculous that this has happened in the first place and I feel bad for those who now have damaged hardware (PCs, automotive USB electronics, etc) due to this cable issue.
