Sound problems since IOS 6 update

In your case, it appears your connector is the issue. In my case and many others, it's definitely software related.

Too many people have this loss of sound issue after their update to iOS 6. My phone was running perfectly on 5.1.1. As soon as I upgraded to 6 this issue hit. After following those steps from the other thread, I've plugged and unplugged my phone several times today and all is well so far. Hopefully Apple addresses this in the 6.1 update.

Anyone who thinks this issue is ONLY a connector problem clearly has not actually read this thread. My iPhone 4 and many others were just fine until iOS6. No sound issues at all. Ever. iOS6 hits, its screwed.

I think its obvious by now that there is something in iOS 6 that watches the connector in a different way and causes it to overreact to things iOS5 ignored.

I have had this problem with two different iPhone 4's and an iPhone 5. Neither the iPhone 4 or the iPhone 5 has a defective connector. In fact they have completely different connectors. Nobody will be able to convince me that this is anything but and iOS 6 problem. If you got it to work by fiddleing with the connector good for you. I fear you will have more problems in the future. Keep us posted.

We all know it is a software issue, but looks like i am the only one who did change the connector with an after market one and yes it does fix my problem with the sound issue and the battery drain as well. This fix is for people who have their iphones for more than a year. For the other ones just go to apple store and ask for a new phone it is your right. Apple are familliar with that problem they just dont want to admit it.

Btw changing my connector did not made me more issues. Everything work as a charm now. I was going to get the iPhone 5 because of the issue, but Now I am happy and I will keep my 4s and enjoy it.

Like I said previously. I had two iPhone 4's (Not 4S). They both had the issue. I now have an iPhone 5 and it also has this same exact issue. These two different phone models have two different connectors. You will probably experence the same issue again soon. Sorry.

I also have no sound on my 4S. Everything works fine with iOS 6.0.1 until i plug my earphones out. No sound anymore. Only on my earphones. I have done everything: Hard reset, restore firmware, clock sound, earphone put in and out, try to downgrade (didn't work with iTunes 11). What to do? Lucky I can hear when my phone goes off, but that's it.Also lucky I am not the only one who has problems with that.

I would not advice it to anyone, but my problem seems to have completely disappeared by accidently dropping my Iphone on the ground hitting first my foot.

I phone sits also covered in its extra mophie battery!!!

Playing music was just fine with me with or without earphones.

Only problem with me was that I couldn´t hear it anymore when someone phoned me or there was an incoming sms.

After the littel accident everything started to work just fine and that´s already for quite some weeks already without any problem at all anymore.

So I don´t know.

Probably it could thus very well be a hardware and software related problem as everything started to happen after the ios6 update.

So yes the update could probably have caused a hardware malfunctioning as some do indicate this possibility as the accidental falling down of my Iphone to the ground repaired somehow the problem it seems.

Well the fix I previously posted wasn't permanent. I plugged in last night and lost sound, but I was able to get my sound back right away by turning those buttons under sounds on and off. Definitely a software issue. Extremely frustrating Apple won't come out with a fix for this when so many are affected. No point in having a phone with sound issues.

That's very funny.

All sorts of software problems begin upon "jailbreaking" your iPhone. Not saying you intentionally did so, but sure there are other issues, but "jailbreaking" is nearly guaranteed to start untold problems.

To resolve issues with a jailbroken phone, you should return to your carrier's service center and politely ask them to re-install their iPhone software, because "'your son' tried to unlock your phone".

My 4s no longer has sound after the recent 6.0.1 update. After a visit to my carrier, I was advised to go to the Apple Store 126 miles away to have my phone replaced under warranty. I never had problems with my 3GS, but this has been so frustrating. I have restored from iTunes, etc. to no avail! I had already picked out an Apple computer and planned to upgrade to the iphone 5 in September. The most recent software disasters have caused me to reconsider both purchases until I see how they handle future releases and my own problem. If this trip to the Apple Store proves to be further frustration, Apple will have lost me as a customer.

I am having the same Siri problem on my iPod touch 5th generation.

Hey everyone. I found the solution to this problem. Open Siri and then change the volume. Do not change the volume before opening siri as that will not help. Change the volume of Siri by changing the volume AFTER Siri is open. Open Siri by holding your home button down for a few seconds. Hope this helps!
