it's a shame we have to do this. Shortcuts sometimes work, sometimes don't. Together with the bug on icloud and music on the ipad. What is wrong with Apple? I feel like I'm coming back to the PC world and its load of bugs. back to IOS5??

I'm curious, when you did this, did you get a message saying "All documents & data stored in iCloud will be deleted from this iPhone"?

I get that message, and it's enough to make me not try this method... I don't want to lose all my contacts etc...

More generally, I had the same issue with my shortcuts suddenly not working (which is why I was reading this thread, of course). Turning the phone off and on again fixed the issue for me, at least for now.

This worked for me! Thank you!

this has really annoyed me, I listed this as an issue as soon as I upgrade to iOS6, yet my post was ignored, now this post has jumped above mine. But anyway, none of these suggestions have worked longer than a few hours.

    this didn't work for me.

I'm having a smillar issue where my keyboard shortcuts will not work unless I shutdown and restart.  Hope Apple decides to fix this as it's quite annoying.

well it stopped working for me too and well I had to reboot then it worked.  I decided to turn that documents and data off.... we will see if i dont have to reboot again.  I will let you know.  Paul Duke I do get that messgae and it scares me too.... but COntacts are still working... and really I havent noticed anything different on it.  SO, I hope this is the answer because I hate rebooting daily.  lol  I think though if I were to add a contact or anything it isnt going to show up on my ipad ....  but that is ok when i sync it with itunes... then sync my ipad.  the contacts are set sync.    I mean I hope this works.  lol

Following up my previous comment here regarding the warning message you get when you choose to turn off "Documents & Data" in the iCloud settings (the message again is: "All documents & data stored in iCloud will be deleted from this iPhone"). I did a little reading around the 'net and the documents and data referred to in this warning seems not to be ALL your documents and data on your iPhone, but rather just documents and data used by third-party apps on your phone. IE, this doesn't seem to be referring to your contacts, for instance, but might include some documents which are stored in an app. I'm not ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN about this, so I would say be careful (and it's completely crazy that Apple gives you such a worrisome warning without a full explanation) but after reading about it I decided to turn documents and data off in iCloud and I didn't lose any data...

Meanwhile, a day after turning off my phone and then turning it back on, which successfully restored my shortcuts, my shortcuts are still working fine.

Just my two cents -- Apple used to be known (rightfully) for simplicity and ease of use, but this integration with iCloud and the way information and data syncs between devices and such is getting awfully complicated and buggy. I sure wish Apple would give us an easy switch to turn this stuff off. I am starting to be reminded of how I felt back when I had Windows computers in 2006 and earlier... I spent at least half a day per week managing my and my wife's computer problems. I was so thankful when I switched to the Mac and got my time back... Please Apple, don't take me down that road again...

This is a random issue with no real solution and we can only hope that Apple cares enough to fix this problem in the next update. I'm not holding my breath.

I mean I was told in another forum it is for Pages... Keynotes and stuff like that and id not effective by contacts.  Which maybe the case.  But something with the shortcuts I think must be.  Because I noticed the other day it would stop working on my phone when I would use them on the ipad.  But not vice versa oddly.  I shut that documents and settings off the other night and so far my shortcuts are ok.  and havent had to reboot.  lol  And I purposely used both last night to give it a whirl.  I mean for e I dont have the pages on my phone and would only use ipad for those things.  So for me syncing the data is a non issue.  I thinking fo mr keeping it off is ok.   Until I notice another issue....  lol  I am good for now.

I have Emoji installed... I disabled that in the Keyboard settings and the shortcuts worked again!

I enabled Emoji again and it still works... we'll see if it's a temp fix or a full resolution...

I've now tried restarting, hard restart (home + sleep button until Apple logo show), cycling iCloud data and documents setting, deleting and retyping all shortcuts and removing the Emoji keyboard.

All in vain :-( Shortcuts only work 1 time in 30.

For iPhone 4 users iOS 6 *****. Reeeaaaaly wish I could go back to iOS 5.1.1 :-( Really miss you Steve Jobs, Apple is falling apart without you...

None of this solved my Keyboard Shortcut issue for me. My wifi is also pretty spotty. Not sure why I upgraded to 6. Maybe for the tinted title bar in mail?
