iPhone 5 loose screw (slight) noise

Just got it this morning and found that my iPhone 5 sounds like a screw is loose when tap lightly on the back of the phone near the top which is more likely coming from the camera.

The phone works 100% fine, but this is just too annoying. 😟

Has anyone else experienced this?

I have the same problem. I asked my coworker if they had the same problem with their iPhone 4S. No loose screws or anything wrong with their iPhone. Took my to apple. They told me that it the motor of the vibrator and that pretty much half of the phone they had were like that. Wow if I new the iPhone 5 was this bad I would had bought a Samsung galaxy. I guess apple is too busy spending $$$$$ on sueing their competitors and forgot about taking care of their costumer and product. Wow i waited to upgrade for a downfall. :(

I noticed this on mine as I set down the phone on my night stand. It turns out it is the volume + button. I can hear it when I shake the phone or any time i put it down. It seems to be getting slightly worse but not by much. I have an appointment today and will see if it gets replaced/repaired.

Honestly, I usually don't care about this at all, but I would hate to lose functionality of the button. Granted the phone has a year warranty, I'm getting it checked out today.

Does anyone else have the issue with the Volume Buttons rattling? I've heard of the battery and lock button but not the volume button. It seems more likely being it's right by the Silence button which sends the vibration through the phone when turned on.

Cheers,

Z

just got my phone 1 day ago and notice this annoying rattle never had this issue sounds to me like the vibrate motor is loose went to apple store in westfarms completely useless waste of time the guy didnt even look at my phone just told me the problem was normal and sent me on my way what a waste of gas plan on investigating this issue myself since apple was a completely useless 😠 plus there was a glitch in their system which blocked my upgrade yet they had no idea how to resolve the situation so 3 trips later i get my phone and now its rattling come on really !

Fail. Ok, let me explain. The thumping noise is battery, take it to apple. The rattling is your camera or a button, the buttons will probably do that since they are, well, buttons. The camera has a free-floating lens so if you want that to stop then you should just glue your camera lens. Your pictures will be garbage and your camera won't focus anymore.

Noise Problem cured !!!

My iPhone 5 made a rattling noise when shaken after it had "a few falls"

I read in one of the forums that it was the battery coming away from the adhesive.

I checked iFixit teardown of the iPhone 5 and noted the very large battery which occupies two thirds of the screen space from left to right (starting from above the headphone jack side).

I'm not surprised that if it comes loose that it is the cause of the clunking rattle.

One of the forums contributors suggested gradually pressing all the area of the phone on the outside that overlies the battery inside pressing hard between front and back over all of the screen area from left to right that fronts the battery inside. In this way one pushes the battery back on to the adhesive !!
