Messages disappearing after upgrade to iOS 6

After I updated my iPhone 4s to iOS6 I noticed that messages and complete threads are disappearing when I open them in the Messages App. These Messages are sms based messages from different companies identified by a name, not a number, typically messages from the bank, coupons and membership details from different customer clubs etc. I can see the text in the preview, but as soon as I open the message/thread all content is gone, and the empty thread moves to the bottom of the list.

Has anyone else had this experience? Is there any fix for this?

Tried the same on an iPhone 4 with the same result.

This hit me too. Upgrade my ip4 from 5.1.1 to 6.0 and since then all the SMS from the bank/mobile operator/ other informative sms gives a preview but as soon as you open these messages you see a blank/empty message.

Looks like this is a serious bug in the message app and needs attention.

Apple, when are you patching this issue?

P.S> I did a complete restore and upgrade.

I have the same problem, upgraded from iOS5 to iOS6 and the service messages disappears.

Has Apple totally forgotten to actually test their software before they release it?

It sure is going downhill :-( The map application is very bad, the message system is very broken, the backside easily get scratches :-(

Was planning on buying a iPhone 5, and maybe even an retine macbook, bot now I don't think so, way to many problems with hardware and software.

APPLE get your act together, you have a **** load of money, start getting to competent developers for hardware and software!

I have a very similar issue after upgrading to iOS6.

I can see a preview (2 lines) of all the messages that existed before the upgrade, in Messages app. However, as soon as I open it, the contents disappear. When I go back to message list the message that I tried to open moves all the way down and preview also disappears.

I am able to see the preview only after manually closing the Messages app from springboard and then reopening the app.

Weird issue. The messages that disappear are the one's adverts and info messages mostly from banks, fund houses, credit cards etc. Some of them are really important. hope Apple takes notice.

If just one more message arrives to such disappearing thread, such thread becomes visually "repaired"... But those messages received earlier are completely gone. So the thread shows up only those messages arrived after upgrade... This is a disaster. I know those messages are somewhere in deep memories of my iPhone, but seems no chance to get them visible again. And they also cannot be even deleted.

I dont know how come apple had not sensed it earlier.

This message issues is blowing my head after updgrade. Actually i need to blam my Indian trai and service providers, for iphone . If i receive a bank message it would be LM-HDFC or AM-ICICI but i my iphone reads it as LMHDFC or AMICICI.

Once ios6 is upgraded on my iphone4. I have enabled imessages and facetime immediatley. So when iphone messages are read, possibly it shows blank page because imessage reads the message as a contact name rather no number is available on those transaction / promotional messages sent in India. So it had corrupted all the messages in my iphone4 ( i hope ).

As everyone said, its booooom. I would have read these topic before upgrade, unfortunatelly missed my 3000 messages. Have to wait for ios6.1 update for apple to fix it, if they notice. Or all messages are gone.
