iPhone 5 yellow tint screen!?

Hey, well, as I am fully aware yet not expecting this for the iPhone 5, but yeah, I've got the yellow tint screen. Not the patches, the whole screen makes white look like ivory, and I don't know about you guys, but my retina/retinas in my eye/s do not make anything look ivory/yellow.

Does anyone else have this issue?

+ Do I take it to apple for a replacement screen?

Just my luck really 😟

you seem to know what they are thinking.

If there were a "vast majority" disturbed about the screen tint, there would be thousands more posting here, even if only 1% bothered to post in forums. Instead, there are a grand total of 21 different users complaining about the tint in this forum.

Just because people aren't writing in forums doesn't mean they aren't going into the stores to have their yellow screened iPhones replaced

You actually believe that there have been over 4 MILLION iPhone 5 ownerd (a simple, not vast majority) who have exchanged or returned phones for any reason, let alone over the screen tint?? You cannot be serious!!!!!

You live in your own little world. All you can see is what you surround yourself with.

The yellow screen issue does not only concern the iPhone it affects Apples entire product line up. The MacBooks, iMac, iPhone, iPad and the Thunderbolt displays. So my annoyance is not with the iPhone alone. So if you take all these product lines and add up all the yellow screen issues then yes there are thousands of complaints regarding the yellow tint issue in forums. Then you have to take into account those who do not frequent forums and would go in store and have their products exchanged.

There might have been 4 million returns which would be the vast majority of iPhone 5 owners considering they have probably sold about 7 million by now. Do you have factual information to prove otherwise? When I said vast majority I was simply saying it as a general term that I've personally seen and read a lot of people who have had dents and scuffs and yellow screens who have returned the phones for exchange. I Wasn't expecting anyone to take it so personally and go in depth meaning and analysis on a comment.

Total nonsense. There is no evidence whatsoever that Apple screens have poorer color calibration out of the box than any other brand. Besides, computer screens, including under OS X, are easilty calibrated for precise color reproduction for photography and other purposes. I have done so myself.

Yes, it's self evident that if returns and exchanges were in the millions, it would exceed the production run, and that alone would be massively covered by the media.

When I said vast majority I was simply saying it as a general term that I've personally seen and read a lot of people who have had dents and scuffs and yellow screens who have returned the phones for exchange

"A lot of people" means different things to different people, but it never means "vast majority" to anyone rational, or without a self-serving agenda.

I Wasn't expecting anyone to take it so personally and go in depth meaning and analysis on a comment.

What you weren't expecting is that anyone posting in this troll-nest, whine-fest thread, would actually think about the ridiculous hyperbole you come out with. Nothing personal - just my distaste for bovine excrement.

You can call it a troll-nest, whine-fest but I think it's legitimate to have a concern over your $1000 top-end smartphone made by a company that prides itself on its standards having a yellow tinted screen - especially when your previous model (iPhone 4) had a better colour balance.

It may be that "There is no evidence whatsoever that Apple screens have poorer color calibration out of the box than any other brand" but since they are the most expensive I expect them to be BETTER than any other brand, if they don't want to maintain their standards then they should lower their prices.

Well the thousands of posts regarding yellow screens across Apples entire line up beg to differ. Apple actually released a statement regarding the yellow iMac screens but obviously they still haven't done anything about it.

As the post above mine states, Apple puts itself out as a leading premium brand which charges high prices for its goods. They have over $100 billion in cash reserves. There should be no excuse not to have industry leading quality control for their products.

We'll have to wait and see on the the level of media coverage. All the biggest tech blogs have stated users have been receiving damaged iPhones straight out of the box. The iPhone 4 antenna issue took time to build up steam before Apple had to address it. So my 'vast majority' statement may not be an exaggeration contrary to whatever you may want to believe. The phone is not even a week old yet so there is still plenty of time for people who may return their phones as everyone is still within their 7-14 day return period.

You need to calm down. You're getting worked up over nothing. Your level is pretty high here so you must have a lot of issues/complaints with Apple hardware/software? Since nobody ever comes here unless they have an issue. Do you have an iphone 5 with a yellow screen? If not why are you even in this thread and commenting?

Not only not true, but nothing to do with the issue in this thread, and your statements that the "vast majority" of iPhone 5 owners are suffering with yellow screens. You cant sustain a rational arguement, so you jump from yellow iPhone screens to scratches, to iMac and other screens. You are here to troll and bash Apple, violating the TOU of this forum.

Do you have an iphone 5 with a yellow screen? If not why are you even in this thread and commenting?

Nope, and neither do the 5 other people I know who got iP5's on release day. Your question reveals the typical troll attitude that you/they somehow own the thread, and anyone who disagrees with anything said, no matter how preposterous, should be ejected.

Really, what about this thread about the 4S:

Or the iP4:

iP3GS:

or the 3G...

If you believe all of there. the iP5 would look like a yellow traffic sign....

All of these demonstrate only that color ballance shifts over time with all screens and the power of suggestion and over-entitlement.

The topic was yellow tinted iPhone 5 screens which led onto the issue of yellow screens as a whole which has been plaguing Apple buyers for the last couple of years across its whole product line. The lengthy forum posts across the internet prove it so it is undeniable. Sorry for expanding a topic of discussion. I initially came here to talk about my yellow screened iPhone 5 experience but it got me thinking of the quality control as a whole which is why I mentioned the recent issue of the dents and scuffs. Don't blame me if you can't handle separate points of discussion.

I am a big fan of Apple and continue to buy their products but I am not so extreme that I turn a blind eye to lower standards of quality which has occurred these last few years. Why don't you berate Steve Wozniak? Even he criticises Apple when he believes they can do better. Only this week he was criticising the new Apple maps.

Well you and your friends are very lucky then. I know someone who bought 3 iPhone 5's and every one had chip damage straight out of the box. I've experienced 2 yellow screened iPhones. It is just luck of the draw. My batch may have been a defective shipment who knows.

You are in fact the troll, coming in screaming and shouting thinking you are better and more knowledgeable than everybody else, which you aren't. Why enter a thread when you don't have the issue it's discussing? I actually have a yellow screened iPhone. Your attitude of denial and Apple is perfect is probably the reason issues like this don't get resolved because you deny it exists through blind devotion.

He is a troll. He came in trying to say nothing was wrong with the yellow screens, citing some screen curing nonsense (LOL), and when he was proven wrong he decided to find some other point to argue semantics about, getting angry on an online message board. Typical troll behavior. Just don't feed him and he'll go away.

Your previous post shows that Apple has been using the wrong display provider for some years now. I believe the majority of their displays is supplied by LG. Either get rid of them or tell them to start calibrating the displays consistently so people stop getting varying qualities of display.
