iPhone 5 yellow tint screen!?

I dont think these things get solved. You can see the discussion I posted a link to previousely about the iPad 3. People exchanged up to 10 ipads with still same issue. Bad screens.

If it is a calibration issue, why does Apple choose to give different calibration to the same device? does not make sense at all.

All (Apple-) products like MBP and CinemaDisplays come with different calibrations. I had to swap the 24" CinemaDisplay 7 times to get two matching displays of the same series! The backlight color differed and the white tone couldn’t be matched with the control panel. In the end I had 2 matching CinemaDisplays and Apple had 7 opened boxes back in the warehouse :-)

So in my opinion: Let the good guys of UPS and FedEx run until you receive a decent product like advertised! It seems to me that Apple loves to re-stock opened iPhone boxes :-D

Ive noticed too the yellow tint, esp noticeable in the settings menus, esp if compared next to a iphone4 (like i have). It kind of bothered me, because im not used to it, see pic below of the visible difference :

Then, listening to all the chatter about the iphone 5 having a "warmer" color configuration, i compared how my pictures where looking on screen, having the i4 and the i5 next to each other, and i must say like my new phone better, warmer colors make pics look indeed more natural (or at least lively). But ill let you make your mind :

What do you guys think ? is my creamy whites from the menus worth having it exhanged ? Will my pictures look as lively if i do get a cooler screen colored i5 ?

PS : regarding the glue thing, im not really believing that, ive tried to have my phone warm up and all and no noticeable change

Apple have really started to p**s me off the last few years. Every product I buy from them has had a yellow screen issue. The glue drying reasoning is a load of rubbish and was true only for the iPhone 4 in select cases. If it was the glue then the yellowing would appear in blotches. If the whole screen is yellow from corner to corner that's a defective display or a rubbish calibration and will not go away and will be present for the duration of the products use.

In the last year or two of have bought iPad 2, iMac 27 inch, iPhone 4S, iPad 3, iPhone 5 and every single one has had yellow screens out of the box. Now something is seriously wrong here. Apple can't be that stupid to produce so many products with this ugly yellow tint. If it is a calibration issue than surely by reading the complaints about yellow screens would show that the majority of its users prefer the bluer/cooler tone and they should adjust the screens accordingly. If not then they must be using some cheap *** displays.

I had to return the iMac 15 times and every single unit was defective with uneven whites and yellow casting. Sometimes it was only on the top half of the screen others in one specific corner. The iPhone and iPads had to be returned at least 5 times each. The TNT courier must think I'm nuts since its always the same guy collecting lol and I've see him like 30 times at least.

Now with the iPhone 5 I am on my second unit. The first had the yellow screen and so does the second unit along with a dent straight out of the box. My third unit is on the way but I don't hold out much hope this will be any better because they are likely from the same launch batch.

I love Apple products but this crappy quality control is seriously testing my loyalty to the brand.

being a photographer I read this and other threadswith an open mind. then read apples specs where they went to similar configuration as "retina" display (apple marketing).

They are using H-IPS screens which if you do you reseach like all IPS screens give you the 178 degree viewing and much more. Please before driving your selfs nuts trying to get one tint free open a white window like empty "imessage" then look. at it in diferent lighting with the auto brightness on...it will change based on light as mine is pure white with incandescant lighting and white is slightly warm outdoors. turn off auto and you can adjust to whatever lighting suits you.

This is whay we spend $300 plus on our screen calibrators and $1,000 or more for a good NEC monitor and another $200 plus for the software.

my 3gs was a very nice color, then went to 4s which was way cooler in aa bluish tone. the 5 is warmer. its the nature of the manufacturing process. now if its blotchy thats bad but i am talking of complete screen coverage even and same all over. go ahead and google IPS screens pink and green. you will get a zillion hits as it was a common issue amoung some makers pinkish hue on one side and greenish on other. these are 27" plus screens.

There are only so many makers of screen technology and they supply all the brands. None of this may make anyone feel better but it may change some of the old wifes tales I am reading.

Just to confirm the "tint" people are seeing - this is mine measured with a lightmeter. It remains the same colour balance regardless of brightness oddly enough. The simplest test for me (along with "creamy" whites) is the blue link text in Google searches which takes on a purple hue.

I think it's obvious that the vast majority of users don't like this warmer yellow tint from all the discussions online. So why doesn't Apple make sure it's suppliers calibrate their screens to the cooler/blue tone.

Nope this year the vast vast vast majority have dents and scrapes on the aluminium to contend with along with the yellow screen that Apple seem incapable of correcting.

You don't have the remotest clue what the "vast majority" have or think.

I tried the unofficial app "Color Profiles" and it worked perfectly. I was able to just move a slider in the app and my 3GS (Which was yellowish) turned into a perfect white. I could also match the blueish tone of the iPhone 4.

So this is a proven fact: The color temperature can be set with an app!

Apple just won’t allow the app in the iTunes Store.

But it works perfectly. I will tune the iPhone 5 as soon as possible.

Just because people aren't writing in forums doesn't mean they aren't going into the stores to have their yellow screened iPhones replaced.

Yep it's all about calibration and the yellow tint is easily remedied if Apple would either sort it out at manufacturing or give users the option to change it themselves.

But I don't want to jailbreak my phone in order to get colour profiles from Cydia
