Vibration on iPhone 5 stopped working for me after 1 year of permanent use.
You cannot believe how much you rely on working vibration until it doesn't work any more.
So, first you check your settings (as described). If all the vibration settings are right, then the thing to do is either
- go to the Apple store and let them fix it for you
- smack the phone in the palm of your hand. Not too hard. If you have used Western Digital Hard Drives in the 80s they had the same problem. You smack them, not too hard, and they work again.
Of course, this is not a permanent fix.
I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 5. I've had this iPhone for a little less than a year now, and it has just now stopped vibrating altogether. I've tried the resetting the settings, messing around with the custom vibrations, checking all of the vibrations with no luck. My phone's settings are set on vibrate on ring and vibrate on silent, and when I go from ring back to silent, it does not vibrate like it normally does. I've tried restarting the phone as well as hitting it on the back to "loosen up the vibrating mechanism." Are there any other suggestions or ways that you have found to work? Maybe I'm not hitting the phone in the right place on the back, where exactly is the vibrating mechanism? I don't want to hit it too hard and break my phone, but I'm not sure what else to do. Thanks
You can try to hit it with the front in the palm of your hand. Not hard. You may need to repeat this a dozen times or so.
Your vibration might work for a while after this. But not forever.
An Apple Store might replace it, as someone mentioned.
I thought I had tried everything, but somewhere along the way the "Do Not Disturb" switch had been moved to active.
Confirm the moon icon is not visible in the top right main screen menu. If it is, then somehow you have enabled "Do Not Disturb". It is located in settings to deactivate.
i've got same problem with this. but when someone call me i smack my phone and iy works! my problem is solved. thanks for your help sir.
I tried everything per the setting suggestions and nothing worked. I searched and searched but my iphone 5s is brand new and the settings were solid. BTW, it's not hard to verify the settings, everyone keeps mentioning the settings and there was nothing wrong.
The Solution!
I took the cover off my phone and gave it a firm slap as so many others have and..... it worked!
So yes, I wouldn't go around beating my phone but in this case, it worked like a charm
Smacking phone on hand worked for me.
smacking the phone worked for me!! thanks
THANK YOU Shon8!!!
Thanks this solved my problem!
I do believe smacking the phone with your palm will work because the vibrate motor could be stuck. Smack the phone on the top half of the phone.Generally the motor should be on the right side of the camera.
IS it reset all settings?
