Vibration on iPhone 5 stopped working for me after 1 year of permanent use.

You cannot believe how much you rely on working vibration until it doesn't work any more.

So, first you check your settings (as described). If all the vibration settings are right, then the thing to do is either

- go to the Apple store and let them fix it for you

- smack the phone in the palm of your hand. Not too hard. If you have used Western Digital Hard Drives in the 80s they had the same problem. You smack them, not too hard, and they work again.

Of course, this is not a permanent fix.

I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 5. I've had this iPhone for a little less than a year now, and it has just now stopped vibrating altogether. I've tried the resetting the settings, messing around with the custom vibrations, checking all of the vibrations with no luck. My phone's settings are set on vibrate on ring and vibrate on silent, and when I go from ring back to silent, it does not vibrate like it normally does. I've tried restarting the phone as well as hitting it on the back to "loosen up the vibrating mechanism." Are there any other suggestions or ways that you have found to work? Maybe I'm not hitting the phone in the right place on the back, where exactly is the vibrating mechanism? I don't want to hit it too hard and break my phone, but I'm not sure what else to do. Thanks

I tried everything per the setting suggestions and nothing worked. I searched and searched but my iphone 5s is brand new and the settings were solid. BTW, it's not hard to verify the settings, everyone keeps mentioning the settings and there was nothing wrong.

The Solution!

I took the cover off my phone and gave it a firm slap as so many others have and..... it worked!

So yes, I wouldn't go around beating my phone but in this case, it worked like a charm

My iPhone 5 will not vibrate.
