iPhone 5 not charging

Hi,

My iPhone 5 will not charge has anyone else got this problem?

When I plug the lightning cable in its as if the phone registers this but it will not charge.

I am also unable to transfer any data across to the phone.

The phone has been rebooted several times but still no luck,

Thanks

Jack

I was having an issue with my iPhone 5 having to really shove the chord into the phone to get it to charge, and it had to be done in a certain way. Read on here people had lint issues and figured i would give that a shot. Couldn't believe how much lint was in the charging slot, and once I cleaned it out with a pint and then used some compressed air to fully clean it out, the charger began to work PERFECTLY.

I have never had a problem with my Iphone 4 or 4s, i really wish i wouldn't have upgraded to the 5c... feels like the biggest downgrade ever. It makes us people who are #teamiphone look completely dumb when we can't even do half of the things that android users can... like CHARGE OUR PHONES!! Resolving this issue is a must or I am one iphone customer who will tuck my pride and leave apple for android because i need my phone to actually work!

Well, I bought 5 black cords on ebay for different charging stations thoughout the house, office and cars. They were more snug than Apple certified cords but they all worked well.

I got tired of replacing the flimsy expensive Apple cords, you see.

Tonight all the black cords failed to charge my iPhone 5. I fiddled with them all trying different things to no avail. I finally hunted down an original Apple cord and it charges the phone. I find this very strange.

Just booked an appointment with the Genius bar at my local Apple store to sort out my iPhone 5 not charging problem as it's still under warranty.

Thought I'd check the forums and JockOakwood had the answer to my problem. There was a lot of compacted fluff in the socket, I used a plastic toothpick and it all works beautifully again

Thank you Jock, hope this helps someone too

My wife had her cable replaced earlier this year and she hasn't had a problem since. I had mine replaced yesterday and it charges fine. My iPhone 5 had no lint and nor did hers.our issue was fraying lightning cables under the collar where you can't see it. It'll kink even with repeated light use causing a bulge. It's only a matter of time until it frays and starts shorting. Both of us had this happen on our cables that are only used to charge at night on our nightstands.

Buy some more charge cables off of Amazon.

You can get 3 for $6 good cables if you look a bit. Even for the lightning cables on the iPhone 5 running IOS7.

Yes they are Chinese but read the Comments with the ad. Some are real good and some are real bad!

Pick the good ones.

I've bought probably 2 dozen, some have been DOA and some work well. There are short, long, lighted, EL flowing light cables, and all kinds of styles.

Just accept that there are good and bad companies and some actually do want to earn your business and correct their problems.

Oh yea, if you don't like buying Chinese electronics, then go to Apple.com or Best Buy and pay $19 or $29 !

My iphone 5 cable stopped chargind on laptop usb.... at car the cable charges ok. I thought my dog chewed my cable but no signal of damage. So I tried my cable car and it does not charge on usb computer.

I thought problem with my usb computer. So tried pen drives and also ipad 2 and all function well.

I start searching for solution of this on web.... read some posts.... and plug and unplug the cable and nothing....

When I invert the cable that connect to iphone it worked.... started charging on usb. Since both faces look the same it makes no sense for me. But it is working for now.

I have 3 cables, one in car, home and work... the car it is working with no problem, no faces changing need. My problem started on usb computer.

I think this is a bad quality since too many posts over web about this cables. Maybe a bad project?

Good luck
