Hi,
My iPhone 5 will not charge has anyone else got this problem?
When I plug the lightning cable in its as if the phone registers this but it will not charge.
I am also unable to transfer any data across to the phone.
The phone has been rebooted several times but still no luck,

Did this with a paper clip, worked straight away.
It crazy how much dust builds up in there over time.
This worked for me. Older 5S. Thought the charging jack was bad. Was on the verge of ordering a new phone. You just saved me $350! 🙂
Awesome! It worked and charging again now. I used a paperclip and scratched the bottom clean of lint. Not a whole lot but I guess enough to prevent the contacts from charging the phone. Thanks! 😉
iPhone 5 is not charge that while the phone shows that it is on charge, it never charges. please help me
This happened to me too - power cord was very much positional - had to get it in just the right position to get it to charge. Used the end of a paper clip with a single layer of thin cloth tape, moistened in rubbing alcohol, to clean the port. As others here stated, pulled out an amazing amount of lint - no idea it could even hold that much in that small space. Cables that I had not been able to get to work for months are now working.

I have tried new cables old cables new chargers old chargers! I believe it is the connector on the phone is bad or worn out!
Knock on wood for my iPhone 6s and iPad Air 2, both purchased and made last year...I'm HOPING they've fixed whatever hit me with the lightning connector through to my iPhone 5s...
just replace the battery its all done
