iOS 6 battery life

My iPhone 4S's battery life has been trash ever since I updated! And also it says I've used it for and hour and a half with any hour 45 standby. But I've barley used it for half an hour! Any idea to why the bad battery life or why the usage is so high?

I have both the iphone 4s and 5. Both now running ios6. I never had a battery problem on the 4s. Not even with the upgrade to ios 6. My problem is with ios6 and the iphone 5. I have done nothing different today that I would do any other day and my battery on the iphone 5 is down to 76%. The 4s on a usual day would be reading 94 - 96%.

So I agree with the others that something in the background is causing a huge power drain.Let's hope Apple admits the issue and corrects it ASAP.

My experience too, it terrible - and I've got the feeling it's the marketing department, which managed to overrule other departments, because they want to sell new iPhones.

How I hate this kind of ****, always had the impression Apple wasn't doing this .... Because they simply (used to?) make outstanding products and don't need to do this to be able to make enough money.

I hope it gets fixed by an update soon.

Hello all just to let you know my 4s is now performing much better since iOS 6 update, normally a 20 hours of standby with around 4-5 hours usage. Has now turned into 1 day 8 hours of standby with around 9 hours of usage and I mean actual usage not the whole increasing even when in standby. Why? I really don't know, but I do think that some old opened apps during the update could be causing problems. Force them all to close run that sucker out and give a full charge, hope everyone gets better performance soon!! Based in UK

iPhone 4s running iOS 6 and the battery life makes the phone almost unusable. I travel frequently and I'm not going to be happy when the phone is inoperable. At least with other phone you can buy a spare battery. What the heck apple? Please push a fix. I'm running my screen almost dark and closing background apps almost every time I open a new one. I like to new features in iOS 6 but Come On Man!

Ditto - i give this upgrade 00000 - i won't have enough battery to last thru half a day @ work - this changes the description "mobile" phone - it's gonna have to be plugged in all the time - apple should be totally embarressed on this upgrade - we should be able to uninstall or go back to an upgrade that actually works - might as well throw in the maps are terrible - WIFI has issues & no more uTube - let's hope i don't actually have to use my phone - if not fixed i will be purchasing a new phone that will NOT be an iphone - since i need it for work - that purchase may have to be tomorrow

I am having major issues with iOS 6 also. I was using an app to listen to music and it took my battery from 76% to 63% in a minute.. This has happened to me twice with different apps. I'm not getting slow drains but rather battery drops in double digit increments. *** Apple.. Why so the updates always have to screw with the battery life of the phone?

To those that have implied that this is a marketing ploy to get you to buy an iPhone 5, don't worry. It isn't. :-)
My iPhone 5 battery life is also crappy. Can't get through half a day. It's not a ploy. It's a technical problem. We have iPad 2, iPad 3, iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, and now iPhone 5, and they're ALL having this problem. All apps are closed, diagnostic data isn't being sent to Apple (which played a big role in the problem with battery life in the 4.0 and 5.0 iOS releases) and everything else is as it should be.

Where I would get 1.5 days of use on the 4s with 5.X, I'm getting less than half a day with the iPhone 5 and iOS6.

Please fix this Apple. Please. :-)
