iPhone 5 flash and shutter out-of-sync

I have recieved my new iPhone 5 today and have a problem with the camera. When taking photos in dark places, whether on Auto or On the flash will fire but the shutter lags and only opens when the flash turns off. All photos are subsequently dark.

Any others experiencing this or have a fix?

iPhone 5, iOS 6

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

for about around 4 days after the restore everything was fine then recently it started again.

I have tried every idea that ive seen posted, setting the flash to on instead of auto, resetting the settings, restoring the phone completely and nothing seems to make a lasting difference.

At this point ive resigned myself to the fact that ill have to wait for apple to acknowledge and address the issue.

If anyone else has any other ideas id be glad to hear them.

I think it may be a hardware issue, I am saying that as right now I have two iphone 5's, one I got on the 21st, with scuffs and dents, and thats going back which takes pics fine and has never missed a beat with the flash, thats a week 35 build I think. The second is a week 39 and that has the flash problems, but the phone is imaculate. Seems you cant win with this years iPhone 5 at all, I have never had so many issues with a phone, of course the 5S will probably be a much better device from the learning curve of problems Apple is having with this one I expect..

Hi, thanks for the input but if you read through the thread youll see that everyone has tried this and the results are always the same, it solves the issue for a short period of time but it always returns as it does with the following.

Turning off and on,

Resetting,

Restoring,

DFU Restoring

The ONLY way this issue will be resolved is by apple either by software update (assuming its a software bug) or handset replacement (if its a hardware bug).

I wonder if its because they are using different manufacturers chips other than the A6 in these phones and some have a hardware/software with the camera, I'm grabbing at straws but I have spent a day taking pics with the week 35 phone with no issues, the week 39 will fail to sync with flash very quickly. I have seen one report of a 4s with this issue but that could just be a fluke, I'm going to try a replacement I think. which is annoying as the rest of the phone is great. The only difference camera wise I have noticed is the week 39 has more rattle noise in the camera and the sapphire lens looks slightly different, but that could just be manufacturing process differences.
