Scuffs/Scratches On New iPhone 5 Right Out Of The Box

I just made an appointment to take it in. Just hoping they have a replacement for it.

I really want to buy the iphone 5, but reading all your comments I am not so sure any more. What do you think? Should I buy it now or wait a couple of weeks (or even months😟?) until Apple solves the quality issues?

I, personally, received a flawless iPhone first try. The only "scuff" on it was my doing.

You should see the iPhones yourself, and make the decision then. Can't believe everything you see on the internet 🙂.

At this point it just seems like one needs a lot of luck to get a flawless iphone 5 first try. And if it is really scuffing so easily... I just expect to get great quality for this price, but maybe we are all too spoiled from the previous iphones that were really hard to scratch.😐

I think the iPhone that had less problems scratching was the original iPhone! I still have mine, the digitizer and the back are flawless, and I didn't use a protector. Still works too. The 3g and 3gs where the worse, the back plastic got scratched up so easy, specially the black ones. I never had problems with the 4 or the 4s, just along the metal antennas, with a few scratches. Can't wait to get my iPhone 5 tomorrow.

Well, I know the internet is not that reliable. But the Apple Care Service said, a lot of people are returning their iphones5 at the moment so I think there must be something to it. The only quesiton is how long will it take Apple to ensure customers their usual quality on FIRST PURCHASE.

I think that's what I'll do. I'll just bring it in store and open it in front of them. I'll let you all know what happens.

How long did it take Apple to fix the antenna problems with the iPhone 4s?

You are asking me? I never had problems with the 4S antenna, or on the 4 either. I meant the normal wear and tear along the metal part, just normal scratches.

I bought the black iPhone online from apple. I got it in the mail as expected. After close inspection I noticed a dent in the corner on the edge. The next days went to the apple store. They said, yup it's flawed. I said, yeah apple makes this elaborate video about how beautifully, and precisely it's made so I expect it to be perfect." He understood. He said the black is baked on paint so it can chip and scratch easlily. I asked if i could just return this and get the white rather than just exchange for the same black iPhone. He said, we can do that. The white phone did have a little black grease on the edge but I was able to clean that off.

I really wanted the black but I'm satisfied the white. But like I said, if apple is going to make a video promoting their production, design and precision when building the iphone 5 then I expect nothing but perfection when I receive it.

Hey superstilk your dent is just like mine so when u went into the apple store did they have like plenty of iphone 5s? Is that how you were able to get the white? Or should i call them and do it through the phone? Whih way is faster?
