Scuffs/Scratches On New iPhone 5 Right Out Of The Box

The iPhone 5 has a great design destroyed by very poor build quality. It really is ruining Apple's name. Whenever I tell people I have the iPhone 5, they always say "Did it come with scratches?" "Does your's have scuffs?" It's so sad that the iPhone 5 is known for that and not for the great design.

No one ever says... "it's beauiful! It's perfect" When I see someone with an iPhone 5, I always ask them... how many are you on? They always reply... 2, 3. 6. or more etc...

Right away they point out the nicks... is this what the iPhone 5 should be known for? It shouldn't be and at the end of the day, it goes to show you that Apple has a lot of testing/researching to do and that they aren't doing it properly! They are rushing out products because they are afraid of the competition as they are slowly catching up.

For what it's worth when I received my iPhone 4S from Verizon when I upgraded it came with a small, yet noticeable, chip at the top of the device where the glass meets the aluminum band right underneath the lock button. So things do happen.

But it didn't happen to almost every device and for a month later dude. Furthermore, that is a single isolated issues. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE AFFECTING ALMOST ALL IPHONE 5s!

How many iPhone 5's have sold golbally to date? I don't have the numbers in front of me. Are you willing to accept that to make the device as light as it is it in turn becomes more scratch/scuff prone?

Ok enough of this so light crap!

Apple decided to make it ultra light and is NOW paying the price. No one would have cared if it was 125 grams. It would still have been lighter than iPhone 4S by 20 or so grams!

I am talking about scratches, nicks and scuffs on the shinny bezel! THAT has NOTHING to do with WEIGHT! It has to do with materials used and assembly of the device.... let's face it... when you have 14 year olds with no experience making iPhones in China, you are bound to get crap!

i have the same problem. but it with the headphone jack. it uneven. it fine now. but i am afraid that in a couple of months with me pull in and out of the headphones it will get worst and i may be charge for a replacement. so i calle apple and they said i can go in tonight at 10 pm in ny. so i go in and they said that will the phone exchange thta i will not get a iphone in a retail boxs but in a black boxs. so i said it used right. he said no sir it a brand phone with refurbished parst. i was like do u know what refurbished means. it a nice word for used. then they said i have to wait 4 weeks for iphone. so why the **** i had to go in today. i am going to radio shack to see if i get exchange and if they say no i will call chase and dispute my bill. it not how they treat us. like it apple fault and they want to replace it will used phone wen it was there fault

Don't accept anything used, David. Wait it out and roll with what you have for the time being. Once these things become more readily available you can go back to the store with your case number and revisit the issue, and hopefully get a brand-new factory sealed device. It's what you deserve.

My point is mritacca that of all the phones sold, you really think that 90% have cosmetic flaws? You got a link that documents that fact, or even speculates it?

but how can i make apple give me a retail one. bc they said i didnt buy it from apple so i have to get a replacement with refurbished part. bc it not fair not to me but to u and to everyone. they messed up and now they dont want to fix it. why pay from 199 to 850 just end up with a used one. doesnt make any reason. bc i am not rich and it not fair and even if i was rich i will not take it

Call your wireless provider and tell them you already spoke to Apple and that they wanted to give you a refurbished device, when you clearly agreed to purchase a brand new device. See what they say. Most stores are out of stock at the moment, so maybe that's why they offered you the one with the refurbished parts.

They may put a hold on that amount. But a hold and a charge are two very different things. Just make sure if they do switch it out for you that you send your defective device back as soon as possible to avoid anything being billed to the credit card.

And you can demand anything you want, you're the consumer. You pay the bill. It doesn't mean you'll get what you ask for, but as I previously mentioned, sometimes you have to stick with things til you're satisfied.
