I got this from Asurion, Dont think Verizon can help me. Ill have to email them again and ask. Did they make pay for the iPhone again then refund you when they get current one?

I An sorry to hear that. I hope u mad a police report. And try to call Verizon and get that phone out the badesn so the cop can track it. Also try to get rid of the money little by little. I know it bad idea but u took a big hit.

Oh I thought you meant apple executive relations. They were nothing but helpful. I got their help after sending a long email explaining my predicament to Tim Cook. They responded pretty quickly after that.

How are you guys seeing what week and factory your iPhone 5 was produced?

I just google "chipmunk apple serial number" . It should be the first site. Part of it is in German. Just plug in the serial and it gives you that info. Aperantly , apple serials aren't random. They have info coded into them such as production week, factory and model number.

I saw no point in making a police report since theres no plates to report. And since Verizon iPhones are factory unlocked all they can do is just swap to a different SIM card and it will work. I have the counterfeit money but I dont want to risk trying to use it since Im sure someone will notice it. The texture of they money gave it away and the color. I just posted on Craigslist to beware of those crooks.

Besides someone messaged me from Craigslist saying he too went through a similair issue where counterfeit money was used. Cops told him that if there was no gun or weapon involved they cant do anything. Waste of time

Did you report the phone stolen to verizon? I believe once you do, they lock that IMEI so it can never be used. I used to work as a tech at a Verizon store and this is how we permanently disabled stolen phones. So you can make it a glorified iPod touch.

Rich, each phone has a serial number which has nothing to do with the OMEI/SIM number. The cops can track it that way perhaps?

I received a mint iPhone 5 from VZW (Week 43, C3 Factory). Thought it had two very small defects on first inspection, but they were shadows. Perfect black 16GB model. A true rarity.

SO the cop can track even if it on the bad esn list. Bc the iPhone has a SIM card. So it can be gsm. So people r just born bad. I can never do that to a person. It sad.

I would but at this point I just dont even want to deal with it. Im sure the cops will say why didnt I call sooner. And will want that counterfeit money as evidence. So why bother, Im sure they will get caught eventually.

Well the power button on the Asurion replacement is not very responsive, Sometimes have to press 2-3 times to get it to turn on/off. So I called Asurion and they will be sending me a replacement afterall. I checked the serial number on that site and its week 37 (September) So im assuming Asurion has an older batch of iPhone 5's (dont know if they have their own phones they ship or do they get them from foxxconn like Verizon) Which if thats the case then ill probably get another damaged iPhone, It has a tiny power button rattle too. But yeah the power button is defenitely deffective it wont work on 1st time all the time. Atleast with Asurion you dont have buy the phone and have them refund you after they get the deffective one. And I wont have to ship back the box or any of the accessories , just the phone by itself.

For what it's worth...

Purchased iPhone 5 a few days ago. Took it out of the box and there is a scratch running across the top of the phone.

I tried to ignore it but I think I'm going to exchange it today. I had an iPhone 4--never had a scratch.

When I exchange it I'm going to inspect the new phone before I leave the store.

It wouldn't be a big deal for something that I spent a few dollars on.

But I think if you spend a couple hundred dollars on a phone, it should be in pristine condition out of the box.
