Bought the iPhone 5 in Thailand on November 1st at one of the telephone operator's launch event. I had to bring it back 2 days later as something inside was clearly moving, most probably the battery. The operator exchanged the phone no problem.
I thought all was good now that I had a new phone... no no. The following days I started noticing that the battery was draining extremelly fast and the screen was not probably in contact with the frame (perhaps glue problems... jeez Apple) which consequently made some clicking noise each time I touched the screen...Grrrr I went back to the operator for and exchange. They agreed to do so... and here comes the best part...
... They opened 2 boxes. Both telephones had visible scratches on the edges. Both were coming straight out of the boxes. I simply rejected them. So they asked me to wait for a week or two as it seems their policy doesn't allowed them to open more than 2 boxes when cosmetic reasons are invoked by the customer. No comment!
I waited 2 weeks. They called back saying a shipment had arrived. I went for the exchange. Since I was not in a good mood, they ended up opening 4 boxes, as the first 3 had visible scratches and scuffs. I took the 4th phone as it seemed the most scratch free (although not completely) and was really tired of this.
So, to sum it up... I saw 8 iPhone 5, none of which I can say were in prestine condition. Not even the last one, but what the ****, I will not spend one more second with this and anyways I am stuck as the operator refuses reimbursment...so I'm stuck.
Apple if you are reading this, I just want to say that I am extremelly disappointed with the iPhone5. Telling your customers that scratches "are normal" is simply disrespectful. Perhaps it's normal when you have your phone for a few weeks or months BUT not straight out of the box.
