iPad 3 no Verizon FiOS wifi

My iPad 3 does not connect to wi-fi on any Verizon FiOS router PAST a couple feet. When directly next to the router I can connect fine, but walking away from it I lose connection. I try to connect from the back of the house and it says "Unable to join network XXXX". What is stumping me is that we own an iPad 2 and it connects fine throughout the house. My router model # is:MI424WR

What is stumping me even further, is that I took it to my friends house and the same thing happens. I can connect right next to her Verizon router but lose connection within just a few feet. Wi-fi seems to work at coffee shops, airport, work, etc. I had this issue on iOS 5.1.1 and continue to have it on iOS 6.

I have gone through multiple wi-fi troubleshooting steps on these and many other forums. I contacted Apple and even sent it in for repair. However, they could not reproduce the problem, and so they sent it back with no fix. I have resorted to asking the community myself. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I have the same setup (Verizon FiOS and iPad 3) and don't have that problem. My router is Mi424WR, Rev E. What's your revision #?

Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Yes, Jeffrey I am using revision E as well.

Texas.....i have tried most of these but i will sit down and go through them all one at a time tomorrow and let you know my findings. I appreciate the help.
