iphone4s will not turn off

I have done a soft reset and and restore. Apple tells me to pay $600 to get a phone replacement shipped to me then return my old phone and once they have it will be refunded. I am not made of money. They tell me to got to a apple store. The Store is over 200 miles from me. They tell me to send my phone to them and some time around 10 days i will get it back. I use the for work, I have 248 customers that have this number and I don't have a land line for my customers to call. I am a mobile office.

Please tell me how to fix this

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1

hey!! Thanks shilpinm!! You're awesome!! i owe you a drink...

I went to Apple and they replaced it... they just asked me what's wrong... they ran a diagnostic and replaced it...

told me there's something wrong with the connector... 🙂

They didn't ask anything else... quick, easy, no suspicious looks... probably best customer service experience of the year 🙂

I have had this problem since I can remember.

Must be over a year now.

I have tried factory restoring, rice, resetting all settings, The plug it in thing (As soon as I unplug it just starts up again).

This is the second iPhone I've had with this issue (4S) the newer started v. shortly after it was replaced.

Pretty sure it's out of warranty now.

Are we supposed to just live with this?

Oh it also wont find a network, ever.

I had this same exact issue. The power button works, but when you go to shut the phone off the phone will not stay off. It turns off, but one second later it turns back on by itself. This phone had no liquid damage. I took the phone apart, the water sensors were not set off and I removed all the EMI shields on the motherboard and found no signs of liquid damage or corrosion. I finally concluded after starting and shutting off numerous times disconnecting one cable at a time.

FIX (only if you can take your phone apart, or bring it to a local repair shop):

-Replace the Data port/charger port.

Now that worked for me, and yours may not work after that part is changed out. It could be a different cable causing the same issue. I have seen this issue with multiple iphones before, but different solutions.

**NOTE** if your phone is under warranty, just bring it to an apple store to have it fixed, or replaced. ONLY try this repair if your device is out of warranty.
