iPhone 5 wifi signal strength issues

Wifi signal is max without any cover or case,, try without,, now no problem what so ever

100% to do with my aluminium case. Tested it numerous times now and I take it off, full signal. Put it back on, lose signal. This is not apples fault in my eyes but the person I purchased the case off.

The antennas are on the side - the aluminum is blocking/covering 0% of the antenna.

Your 3GS doesn't support 5GHz, your 5 does, and 5GHz is faster, but has a smaller radius of coverage, which is why you have less bars on your 5, but it'll be much faster despite the missing bars.

While i agree its the case which is blocking the wifi signal, apple should have accounted for people putting cases on their precious Iphone 5 phones while designing it.

I have used each and every Iphone model since its launch and none of the older models had this problem. Its clear that this is a design flaw which affects the usage of the phone with a case.

Maybe this issue is your WLAN signal be weaken between your iPhone or iPad, you can try to replace your WLAN or to paste "Perfecting Signals" on your WLAN Box for improve its quality of the WLAN signal.

Thank you SOOOOOOO much dude!! I was going crazy wondering if my iphone was messed up or if my router was the one that was messed up. I took off that wired chrome case and i went from 1 to 0 bars back to 2 to 3. That was never a thought in my mind until i ready your post. Thanks again 🙂

I was having the exact same issues. Took off the case. No change. Reset network settings. No change.

Changed my router band frequency from 2.4Ghz to 5Ghz.

Now I'm getting 42.5Mb down and 12Mb up. EPIC. 😎

the main issue is metal bumper and steel case . All these stuff make the wifi signal totally drop down !!!

I need to buy another case to make my phone can connect to wifi. ****!! wasting my money!

I've had the same issue with wifi signal strenght and the bluetooth too specially after updating to IOS 7, then i've noticed the back sticker was the reason, removed the sticker and the problem solved !!!!

my iphone5 has no cover what so ever but the wifi is still below my expectations, actually i thought it is my device was defected until i saw this thread.

Removing my wife's relatively thin case resulted in her wifi strength going from 50% to 100%.

I don't know what to say , but as I said thier is nothing (case or film).

I have issues with no case. If it is not the backing plate of phone, what is the issue? My biggest complaint is it causes phone to use data and I have to pay for that. This is an issue that is obviously not isolated and needs to be addressed quickly.
