iPhone 5 wifi signal strength issues

I received the iPhone 5 today and can't seem to connect to my wifi. If i move closer to the router I get some bars. If i place the phone on top of the router I can connect and get full bars. But move accross the room and the signal drops off completely. My old 4s has no trouble getting full bars anywhere in my house and even gets half strength outside. Both are running iOS6. I tried hard restarts and settings resets and nothing works. This is obviously a hardware issue, as my iPhone 4s, iPod touch 4th gen, and new iPad all run iOS6 and have no wifi issues. Anyone else having this issue?

I too have issues with the iPhone 5. No case. I've never had a case. I have BT wifi the latest broadband router which is supposed to be the best.

I have to say this is the worst iPhone I've ever had. I'm currently on with my supplier of the phone as this is the second one I've had and it is still shocking. I'm currently about 4m away from the router and I have 1 bar signal.

Because of all the problems I am having with the iPhone 5 and Vodafone (call failed every other call). My supplier has given me a loan phone to see if the issues persist.

They have loaned me a Nokia Lumia. I then had them both side by side and looked at the wifi signal. My iPhone couldn't even see my wifi yet the Nokia lumina was on and connected with FULL signal.

I used to be an Apple fan but these days I am really disappointed with the product. Not to mention that using the Nokia Lumia loan phone I've not had one single "call failed" phone call

Sort it Apple!

I will have full signal showing on my screen and wi-fi will not be operational. As soon as I switch wi-fi off and go to my cell tower, voila! Perfect. Why would it be showing me full signal if there is not a full signal on the wi-fi network I have been using every day for years? I'm not sure this is the same issue as discussed in this thread, but it's the closest I can find in the forum.

Apple?

This is exactly what happens with my iPhone 5S. (I don't have a case) We have other "i" devices and they all work on our wifi (we can have them all running YouTube at the same time - it's not our wifi). My iPhone will work reluctantly on wifi (when it's the only device active on our wifi network), but if another person turns on the Internet on an iPad or computer - I'm frozen.

oh and because of this low wifi signal - my battery dies super fast because it's trying to connect to wifi. I leave wifi off, if I want to have a battery last longer than 2 hours - of pretty much doing nothing with my iPhone because I don't want to pay for data on my cell plan... Just writing this post on wifi killed my battery from 48% to 37%.

Has anyone had any new resolutions from Apple since 2015?
