I purchased my iPhone 5 64GB today, I used it for about 2 hours and a half. The battery was 98% when I purchased it. Is anyone having this difficulty as well? Please let me know....

Yes, mhabashy, I am seeing my battery drain very fast throughout the day. I drained it yesterday and fully charged it overnight and it's now below 21% 8 hours later and I've hardly used it. I make sure to closes the apps when I've finished and with similar use on my iPhone 4, I never encountered such a quick drain. Looking forward to hearing from others.

I have the same problem too. I don't use so much my new Iphone and after 4 hours I lost 40% of the battery capacity.
I don't know why ? But I think to call Apple hotline to know what to do
I read a other discussion about the same problem and it's important to be several to participate to them
i have iphone 4s
several months i used ios 5.1.1, i have disabled all unnecessary daemons from the system, so my phone worke for two days and more
now i have ios 6 and i have to charge it twice a day!!!
Do we have a number for apple hotline? I agree there is strength in numbers!!

I have got the same issue. Charged to 100% before I left home this morning at 7:45. Then when I got to office (taking me slightly more than 1hr) only 70% left. All I did on my commute was listening to music, reading and browsing. And then the battery kept draining itself till it was around 15% a couple hours ago and I switched it off. I really really hope that this is some stupid bugs of the IOS 6 and not a hardware issue. What bugs me the most is Apple's usual maintaining-radio-silence policy. When do we start hearing from Apple about this problem? Judging by the number of complaints in various forums, this is not a minor glitch experienced by only a few unfortunate sobs. Feeling frustrated.
Indeed!
I am going to email The Sunday zTimes in gear lads and see if they will take this forward......
This must be sorted immediately as we rely on these phones..... And if its not there is only one thing to do...
When i recieved my ip5 I restored from iCloud backup. While the restore was happening I moved around icons and somehow got a blank iTunesU icon. The app was there but there was no icon, just an empty space on my screen that would display between 2 other apps. I'm guessing iCloud has been trying to restore the phantom app constantly and draining my battery. So total speculation but, it seems that my battery issue is be related to iCloud getting stuck in a loop and draining battery only while I'm on wifi. I'm going to go a few days with all iCloud stuff disabled and see if things improve.
My thougths so far.
I picked up my iPhone with about 80% charge from O2 in the UK.
It was activated in store, but their WiFi was down so I went to the Apple Store to restore my backup, etc.
I got on the Apple WiFi (it is a large store and the broadband will have been hammered by all the users in there).
I restored a 1.8GB backup in about 20 mins, and then spent another 1.5 hours while all my Apps downloaded.
Once all this had finished (with me keeping the screen active all the time to watch on progress) my battery was down to about 45%. Which bearing in mind the continous WiFi download and App processing was not that bad.
I used my phone quite a bit from then on, playing with all the new features, and eventually the battery was down to 20% and once I got home later that evening was down to about 1% just before I connected to iTunes to sync more stuff to it. It charged up while syncing to about 40% and then I charged it fully on the charger, very quick it was too.
When I went to bed it was set on 'Do not disturb' but it was still checking mail, etc. In the morning (8 hours later), it was showing 97%. So a 3% drop when sat overnight. I used it a lot again during the day, and I ended the day at around 57%. I put it on charge overnight, when I got up it was showing 99%. This is not unusual as once the phones reach 100% of charge they start to use the battery and go off charge, they don't go back on charge again until it drops to around 95% this prevents a battery being on constant charge. I have been using the phone today not heavily, but it has not been ignored and after about 5 hours it is still showing a 96% charge.
I have turned nothing off. I have WiFi on, Bluetooth on, Location Services on, Push email on, iTunes Match on, etc, etc. I don't quit apps I just leave them, sometimes doing a tidy up once a week. I am in a patchy area for 3G with the phone losing the network on and off during the day, more on than off, but that means it is constantly looking for the network at times.
My useage figures since last full charge are:
Usage - 54 minutes
Standby - 4 hours 42 minutes
Battery % - 96%
Latest update:
Usage - 2 hours, 14 minutes
Standby - 7 hours 57 minutes
Battery % - 85%
usage -4h.39m
standby-17h.24m
battery-68%
Yup, having the same issue here now. iPhone 5, ios6, restored from iphone 4 backup that had been upgraded to ios 6.
Never had battery issues before, went to the Apple Store, and the fellow told me that he thought his phone had a similar issue.
His suggestion was to restore to a new phone and put everything back on, but that is painful and alot of work.
I am annoyed, and dissapointed in this turn of events.
And let's also not forget that Apple hasn't released additional chargers or adaptors yet, so you better not leave home!
There were plenty of chargers and Lightning cables in the Apple Store near me.
not mine unfortunately.
Nothing in regent street London. Turning Siri off has certainly extended battery life...but it's not there yet!
When I first got it and turned it on last Friday the battery got hot and started to drain quickly, I did a hard reboot, been fine since.
Usage 3 hrs 46 min
Standby 1 day, 4 hrs
46%
