iPhone 5 battery draining very fast

I purchased my iPhone 5 64GB today, I used it for about 2 hours and a half. The battery was 98% when I purchased it. Is anyone having this difficulty as well? Please let me know....

Yes, mhabashy, I am seeing my battery drain very fast throughout the day. I drained it yesterday and fully charged it overnight and it's now below 21% 8 hours later and I've hardly used it. I make sure to closes the apps when I've finished and with similar use on my iPhone 4, I never encountered such a quick drain. Looking forward to hearing from others.

The standard of how long a battery should last is the Droid Razr Maxx. That battery is amazing and there is no modifying any settings or shutting things off to get over a days worth of battery life. Apple really dropped the ball with this iphone 5, it isn't the best smartphone out there anymore and its embarrassing to me that Apple just cares about profits more than the people. Apple, you will start to loose your faithful followers when the majority have seen that the competition with Android and Microsoft has not only caught up, but you sadly are falling behind. You make us actually look like the isheep that we get ridiculed for but thankfully I for one am not blinded by this and will move on without regret.

My iphone 5 is having the same problem, the battery drains super fast....well compared to how it should be about 10%-15% an hour with minimal usage.

My only point is that we shouldnt have to turn off location services and quit running apps,

The BRAND NEW iphone 5 should work how apple says and if they say good battery then we should get a good battery without the hasle of trying to save it.... Dosent that seem like commen sence?

I am from Singapore - I have taken a Contract based iPhone 5 with Telco connection. I am also facing battery drainage issue - so i decided to do a bit of a Debugging. Here are my results given the precondition that I didnt changed any factory settings on the phone

* Battery doesnt drains if you DON'T USE 3G but just the phone connection

* Battery doesnt drains if you USE both 3G & Wifi as Wifi takes the precedence OVER 3G

* Battery doesnt drains if you USE Wifi, bluetooth etc

* With 3G ON & Bad Connectivity Battery drains 1% every 2 minutes (which is like vampire sucking blood)

* With 3G & LTE both ON & Good connection Battery drains 1% every 15-20 minutes (which is still bad)

(while writing this post my Battery didnt drained even 1% in last 25 minutes even with both 3G & LTE ON)

So my analysis says - the battery drainage issue is to do with your 3G, LTE Signal Strenght in the area you are present

I have been getting average use from the battery. If I can go over 24 hours without a charge and get decent use out of the battery I am pretty happy. I've only gone through a few cycles of discharge so I think it may even improve over the next few cycles. I haven't done anything special other than turning off bluetooth. I only use BT when I'm in the car.

yh it seems like a fair old problem, my partner has got the iphone 5 and the battery needs topping up twice a day!! ive installed the ios 6 on mine and it using battery twice as fast, was going to buy the 5 but i dont think i will now, my partners taking her back, apple have started to suck for a while now but lately its a joke! had a play on the 5 and was seriously unimpressed!! way behind every other top notch smart phone out there, they really didnt do anything with the 5, just jazzed up the old phone! going to need to do a bit more than that if they dont want to lose more and more customers, of course they'll still have there sheep, but as for me and my partner, where off! an when my imac needs replacing i'll probably go to pc, and wave goodbye to all things apple, my partners macbook is getting old so i'll be buying her a dell or something for chirstmas, half the price of a mac anyway, and does the same ****! Apple sort it out before you become more of a laughing stock!!

oh and as for Ian parkingson, great your battery is good! so if you dont have a problem stop posting an slagging people!! im sure you probably work for apple juding by your respones, so **** off and kiss apple *** somewhere else!!

Hi Everyone,

I spoke to a friend of mine who works with iPhones and he said that he was having the same problem and suggested that I restore the phone and install a new OS. Really too soon to tell, but from what I can see the results were a quick and nice fix to the problem. Looks like, for me, it wasn't a dud-iPhone, but rather something in the OS that was sucking the battery dry.

With the new OS in place the phone is definitely holding more of a charge and is definitely more comparable to my old iPhone 4. Maybe even better is what it looks like to me.

Give it w try and let me know if this works for you.

Cheers!
