    I had all the problems as everyone here and I fixed it by resetting my phone. I reset all my content and setup my phone as a new phone. I did have to redownload all my apps but it was worth it. I would suggest backing up your photos and notes first before doing this. Your contact info will come back

    mine acts the same, and 6.01 appers to had no effect to improve battery.  but turning off the safari in icloud setting appears to stop draining when not in use. after sitting unused over night the drain is about 10% over 8h, with safari on it is about 90% drain under the same conditions.

    when in use the iPhone still, and suddenly, drain the battery within 2-3h. appears to be randomly...

    iPhone 5 need a Aplpe fix.

    4 phones later and the problem is fixed. For phone #4 I also had the sim card replaced. For all I know the sim card was the problem. On the newest phone I also did not do a restore (but did the same on the other 3). Just keep returning the phone until u get one that works and replace the sim card. Up until the phone I could only go 3 1/2 hours when out and about. Now phone goes all day.

    @ohio iphone, forgive my ignorance (not a savvy tech person by any means), but how do i swap out the sim card? do i tell the apple store to do this? is there a cost since the phone is still under warranty? i am scheduled to pick up my 3rd iphone 5 the week after next, and may try this fix.

    OK so my battery has been working just fine of late as you may recall from prior posts.


    So today I had the occasion to do some intensive browsing on a secure site and the battery got wacked hard.  It was not for long - perhaps 5 mins and I must have lost 5% of battery during this time.


    Now there may also be something wrong with the battery % meter.  I charged full last night and disconnected before I went to bed.  This am I still had 100% - very odd clearly.  By the time I wass at work I wass on 97% having used Kindle for 30mins.  Remarkable really.


    So two things we got dodgy battery info and we got a rampant 3G amplifier that just chews battery. Clearly this amp needed to be changed to accomodate 4G / LTE so perhaps the software managing this still needs refinement - or worse the amp has a hardware flaw.  The 3G signal here though was not bad 4 bars approx.

    To swap the SIM card I walked to the AT&T store from the apple store and asked for a new card. 8 minutes later I was on my way. No fee. No hassle. AT&T didn't really care.

    That worked for a while for me too.....but eventuelly back to the same drain home last night O lost 3% over 8 hrs while on while on wifi/ soon as I hit 3g/LTE, the phone drains like crazy.......come on Apple, get your **** togeather!!!!!.......fix my phone!!!!!!

    Yesterday i full charge my iphone and unplugged att 12h and att 00h30 iphone dies with 55% off batery in the display percentage....i dont undestamd what's going on...i recharged it that hour at 6h00am and at this moment i have 81%, but he has in flight mode from 8h00am at 15h30....send sms received and made fewcalls...recharge is about 4h to full with ios 6.0/6.0.1 Reply

    So more updates on my battery progress. I've noticed two other things since my phone started to operate better.


    The first is the brightness. Turning the brightness down *all* the way actually saved a significant portion of my battery life. In fact, I've noticed that keeping the brightness even at this low level causes my battery to drain faster when just reading a book, than when I'm speaking on the phone.


    The second, probably more interesting event I've noticed is that either the battery is not reporting it's percentage properly or there's an issue with the IOS code that interprets the battery. Here is an example:


    Yesterday, I had unplugged my phone and started sending and receiving mail. Typically, it will stay at 100% for at least 5-10 minutes depending on how much I use it. This time, I noticed it dropped to 98% in almost 3 minutes. So I decided to reboot the phone by turning it off and then powering it back on. (Really Apple - you can't program a reset option?) Once the phone came back on, the battery percentage actually said 100% again. It stayed there for a bit before dropping again.


    So something is either wrong with the battery reporting it's life or there's a problem with IOS interpreting it.  For those who see massive battery drains (I know you're dealing with another bigger issue) can you try these two things:


    1) Reset your phone and notice the battery before and after reboot. Does it stay the same, go up, or down?


    2) Reseat or replace the SIM card (via ATT or Verizon). I've seen a number of reporters stating that the SIM card was faulty and causing the issues.

    Try this:ERASE ALL data and settings and the perform DFU Restore TWICE IN A ROW. Then set up as new phone and once you set up completely, take out the SIM card and reset network settings. Reinsert SIM card and see if it works.




    1. This is with LTE on and all accounts set to FETCH (NOT manual).


    2. Locations services are only turned on for camera, Siri, and maps ( NO FACEBOOK AND TWITTER), and for system sevices (I only have cell network search and Traffic on).


    3. All notifications for FB and Twitter are off (no notification center and all off ie. no banners, badge icon, sound, view in lockscreen).


    4.I have turned off ALL the toggles for Use Cellular Data in Cellular and in the Spotlight


    To note, one thing that you should check quantitatively is timing how long it takes the battery to drain 1%. Do this using just the regular stock apps and then while playing a game. IF THE BATTERY LASTS FOR ABOUT 3-4 minutes with just using regular stock apps and about 2-3 while playing a game, THAT IS GOOD BATTERY LIFE.


    Another benchmark to inspect is if the battery drops 10% per hour in outside the 90-100% range. If it continually comes close to that benchmark, THAT IS GOOD BATTERY LIFE; it will get you anywhere between a high 6hr to 8 hr usage battery life!

    A combination of using the phone as you would (checking mail, safari, mail) and standby. you've good battery life if the it takes the battery at least 45-50 mins to drop 10%. Those are just the minimum values, so if yours exceed that, you still satisfy my previous remark about how you have good battery life if your battery drains at a rate of 1% per 4 mins!

    In that case, i'm definitely sure that my batt ***** to the max as i had most of the features off, no location service, LTE off but 3G, all notification off except phone and message. 1 sync email which is hotmail and fetch manually, no push mail.


    As all above setting with normal browsing, check mails, some messaging(whatsapp), i'm still getting a 1% drop  within every 2~3mins and and 10% or more within an hour.


    Guess what, it dropped 4% just by writing this. This ip5 seriously ***** to the max..

    I had basically done everything that was mentioned in this forum.

    DFU, set up as new phone, reset to factory settings, off whatever it suppose to be off for better battery life..

    But it doesn't seems work for me..

    Remember to double click the home button and delete all of the apps on the bottom of the screen.
