I did that all the time since my 1st 3GS.

Good or bad news, my phone started out horrible.  I still have push set on a couple of accounts, but did turn off icloud sync of bookmarks.

Yesterday, took phone off charger at 9 am, I'm not at 11% roughly 36 hours later!

    7 hours, 54 mins usage

    1 Day, 11 hours standy.

Just got the 10% warning.  This I can live with.  First couple of days, I was ready to pitch it.

Are any of your accounts exchange or icloud for the push? I'm trying to identify whether push issues are purely for exchange accounts or icloud. Some people have reported no issues with push on their email so it may relate to the type of account they are connecting to.

  • Airboss1998 Level 1 Level 1

I have three e-mail accounts on my i5... one is a gmail account (set up as exchange), a second regular gmail account, and a yahoo account.  I'm not doing anything with icloud right now.

  • TheWrongStuff Level 1 Level 1

Cool. It may still be an issue with icloud or exchange then. The safari bookmarks is a known problem people identifed a while back so it may be possible that its purely an icloud issue.

I've been having battery issues since day one.  I have tried everything that everyone has suggested in this forum. I recently even swapped out my SIM card (AT&T).  Didn't help.

I just got off the phone with Applecare, and they just said to go to the store and swap it out.  The rep even sent me the diagnostic test via text, and looked at the data (I was at 6hours of usage max) and said it was below the normal advertised amount.  While on the phone with him.  I started the phone call at 10%, and it dropped to 2% in about 15 minutes.

Though I'm happy to have it swapped out... I'm not sure that this will resolve the issue, as I have been conditioned to think that it'll just be another dud.  (I've exchanged my iPhone at least 3 times already regarding the battery drain. 2 more times from a loose battery, and dents.)  I really wish that Apple could have some sort of explanation.  I would like to know WHY the battery drain is happening.

Thank you everyone for your help and suggestions.

    Mac OS X

FYI there is _NO_ fix for this.  This is either a hardware problem with select phones or some very serious bug deeply ingrained in the iOS 6.0 & 6.0.1 operating system.  I have used my phone on various 3G networks in six different countries now.  I exchanged the phone once and I have done a DFU restore and tried the phone wiht no apps and iCloud disabled.  The horendous battery drain is the same every time always no matter what if cellular data is turned on.  Turrn cellular data off and battery life is fine.  Apple has really screwed their customers on this one.

I have the iphone 5 - 32 gb and it drains very fast.  I was in NYC and after some light-medium usage which was  checking map location, looking up restaurants, email, taking photos. (but not constantly and  making sure apps were shut down after)

wireless enabled, no cloud backup, but using cloud storage for some apps and services for contacts, notes, reminders etc, connected to LTE, find my iphone enabled, siri on, locations services on, bluetooth off, not connected to wireless networks - always walking.

My battery drained in 5 hours after full charge.  Terrible.

Had to use friends' to keep takin pics and looking up places.  (they had less drain, iphone 4, iphone 4s)

I noticed the map app drains it fast (always tracking).

Maybe worse afther the ios 6.0.1 update?

I also had about 5 hour battery life on my new iPhone5 (received at AT&T store on 11/5) - until I installed iOS software update 6.0.1  After installing the software update early yesterday morning, I now seem to be getting about 20 hours on a charge.

After updating iOS at 8:00 am yesterday (just after completing a full charge), I had my iPhone on continuously - listening to music (over the speaker - which should drain more than iBuds) and making some phone calls, and downloading some iTunes over wifi - until 11 pm. Then I shut iPhone off completely until 8:00 am this morning. Turned it on and had 33% battery left (same as when shut off). Obviously, battery drain was an operating system software problem, that now seems to be fixed. Curiously, the battery problem fix doesn't seem to be mentioned in Apple's list of bug fixes for 6.0.1. I wonder if there are two versions of 6.0.1 - an earlier version that didn't address the battery problem (per some comments right after 6.0.1 first came out), and yesterday's version which does indeed fix it.  Whatever, now I'm a happy camper.

Brsm1990, have you ever went for a one to one exchange? ND297ZP could be a refurbish set

Is this the reward we get for being faithful to this brand ??????? I charge my phone twice a day just 2 get by i called AT&T and i was told that they cant help me after 50 plus minutes on the phone.I was waiting for an important phone call from my Job and the battery died it was so embarrasing.I dont use any extra functions but the most basic ones. Whats the use of paying so much for a phone and the battery doesnt even last for 4 hours i think all of us apple faithfuls should file a class action lawsuit.Me and my wife own every thing apple but this company is going downhill with this kind of product and customer service.I wish i should have bought Note or galaxy 2

Not happy? Sell it and buy SG3.

Mine too, on sleep mode or on wifi no issue but here listening music and surfing = 1% less every 3-5 min... Hmm not so good, so I expect a change or software fix but definitely using 3G eats power as ****.

Btw I remember too that 4S got also batterie issues... So well wait and see but would be nice to have an official statement.

I don't think Apple even care about these issues, no acknowledgement of any issues from the company but we all know the battery life is simply appalling. I run a business that relies on mobile Internet access and calls, naive me suggested our fleet upgrade to iPhone 5's. Trust me, these battery problems are rife, most can't even get much past lunchtime without the battery gone. Apples attention to Quality Assurance and testing must have been severely defunct for the iphone 5. This is the whole reason we turned to the iPhone in the first place, ease of use, attention to detail and just works! We shouldn't have to turn off or restore anything. This is a serious let down and I will be recommending the switch away from ALL apple products for our fleet unless this is acknowledged and resolved promptly

I am swapping my device tomorrow as an experiment.  Might as well seei if i can recreate the same battery drain situation.  At least I will kknow its not the phone.

Its been 1 month now that a bought the iphone 5 and it<s the same problem for me

took off the phone of the charge at 9am and at 6pm i had only 19% left and i worked all day..! I went to an apple store near by and the guy told me that normaly you're suppose to pull it off the charge when it turns 100%! if you dont, in a long period of time, your battery will go lazy and it would be worst...its been 2 days now and i honestly saw a difference..not a huge one but still...
