Can I delete my old appdata roaming apple computer mobilesync backup?

My C: drive is a 119 gig SSD drive and is where all my C:\Users\Ken\AppData\roaming\apple computer\mobilesync\backup, and it's probably has 50 gigs and now the drive is full and I can not restore from my backups.

So can I delete my old ones? Because I have to do something here because it's taking a ridiculous amount of storage space and it's getting reeeeeeeeeeeeeally annoying now

iPhone 4, iOS 6, latest version of iTunes

Please note I have read that I can manage my backups from- "

You can do this safely via iTunes:

Edit > Preferences

Click the Devices tab

Select the backup you want to delete

Click the Delete Backup button."

I can see about 10 backups there but I don't think they're the same in my C: drive, there are probably over a hundred of these backups in there ranging from magabytes to 250 magabytes, so... If I can fix this should I delete everything and start over because I will be having this trouble against undoubtedly.
