iOS 6 battery life terrible

iPad 3 updated to iOS 6 and as usual it was 100% charged when I went to bed. Woke up and battery totally drained. I'm guessing iOS 6.1 is needed ASAP?

Let's hope that a 6.1 is released. This isn't new it happened once before. I am losing 10% an hour and the only thing that changed was upgrading to iOS 6.

All those tips are basic general ideas for getting the best out of your batteries but aren't the answer. Something is wrong and Apple needs to fix it.

My phone was working just fine before the upgrade and I had my settings how I wanted them to be. Now, I have had to shut everything off which basically makes the device useless. Don't give me a feature if I can't use it. Apple had it figured out before, they need to determine what they broke and make sure they log that scenario so they don't forget to test it next time.

I'm patiently waiting for the patch before I update my "new" iPad 3 and hope when my iPhone 5 arrives it doesn't have the same problem.

Same thing with my 4S. I agree with you 100%, tomPW. I spent an hour on the phone with Apple Support today. They did the diagnostic to check my battery and it is fine. I was told by a senior tech to give it a couple of days to see if it improves. I'm hoping that means they are working diligently to roll out the fix. My phone was great before iOS 6, and now I really disappointed that I upgraded. I used to get 16 hours of intermittent use & standby and only use 40% of the charge. At this rate I know I will have to charge it during the day.

After the upgrade to iOS 6, the battery life on my iPad 2 is much shorter than iOS 5.1.1. Now I can't go back, even I get a restore *.ipsw file. Also the map is totally a DISASTER. How can Apple allow this upgrade to be released??? I believe Steve Jobs will never permit this terrible upgrade.

I suppose it's the same with other manufactures too,but really winds me up is when company's such as Apple launch a product as if its the second coming and you just won't have a life if you don't own a Apple product.

This is my first time with Apple and all the advertising here in the UK that the new iPad would be 4G ready when 4G came into operation in the UK based on what Apple was telling us I went ahead and bought the new iPad 68gb 4g well 4G is now in operation or will be in a few weeks I now find that my iPad will not work on UK 4G.

That leaves me with a very expensive product that in my book has been sold not fit for purpose.

Which now leads me on to the new upgrade IOS6 the mapping is a complete joke again I saw one of the glowing reviews suggesting that I should throw away my sat nav as apples mapping with its turn by turn directions will blow you away well using the turn by turn directions home would place me 4 miles out to sea even though we live 70 miles away from it the map detail close up is unreadable and now among other things I'm having battery problems .

Now with the greatest respect to all members on this and other forums why should I turn anything down or off to make the iPad 3 work I don't see any of this in the currant advertising campaign. Of course I'm aware your going to get teething problems with any new product or upgrade but why should the buying customer have to put up with it.

How would you feel if you bought a brand new car and you broke down in the middle of no were and having rang the dealer you were told yes we know of the problem and we are working to resolve it but in the mean time if you take your suit jacket off and get underneath the car with a spanner and we will talk you through it would you except that? I think not.

Just a thought, but I wonder if this has to do with increasing number of cloud based services. There is iTunes Match, tons of location services associated with lots of different apps (including the new find friends thing), safari bookmark syncing, email, notifications for many different apps, and more. It's getting tough to keep track of everything that's activated... at least in these first couple days of getting used to iOS 6.

I wouldn't be surprised if any single one of these cloud services has a bug that slipped through that's draining battery life quickly.

I let my iPad 3 discharge till it turned off last night and then did a 100% charge. This morning checked emails and read paper on browser for 20 minutes max. Then let my little boy watch a 45 minute fishing show on Netflix and it as down to 56%. I started searching iPad 3 iOS 6 battery issues and found this thread....maybe 10 minutes and I kid you not I am now at 51%.

Going to try a full restore from my desktop to see if it helps and if not will have to live with it.... Man it was bad enough before but I don't get 4 or 5 hours of battery life now ( and typing that sentence took me to 50%) seriously

I love my iPad but this is terrible . And yes I have dim screen and push email turned off, location services turned off for all but GPS.....

I am also having iPad3 battery life issues; however, I am experiencing quite the opposite. After upgrading all seemed ok, until I did a reset (in order to hopefully clear up a different issue). After the reset I noticed that the battery had jumped from somewhere in the 80s to 100%. Since then it has remained at 100%. I made sure it was charged overnight and this morning did about 20 min light browsing, emailing - still at 100%. Then I started streaming videos from my MBP. Watched an entire 50+ min video and it remained at 100% the entire time. It wasn't until 4+ min into the next video that it started going down. So far this isn't causing any issue for me other than weakening my confidence in the battery life report.
